Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has sent an emotional message to Manchester United supporters.
Erik ten Hag was fired by Manchester United earlier this week, following his final result in charge, a 2-1 defeat to West Ham.
It left United rooted to 14th in the table when a victory could have sent the team into the top 10. It was not meant to be, and results this season have simply not been good enough.
Ten Hag has been reported to have been left devastated by the sacking, while interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy said the pair were in contact before his first match in charge.
Van Nistelrooy said he and Ten Hag acknowledged results had not been at the required level, with no wins in the Europa League after three games either.

Erik ten Hag breaks silence
Manchester United have moved to replace Erik ten Hag with former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim, announced earlier on November 1.
Amorim will start on November 11, signing a contract until June 2027 with a further 12 month option..
Ten Hag meanwhile has broken his silence on his sacking, via a statement released via his agency SEG.
The Dutchman’s message is addressed directly towards Manchester United fans, thanking them for their ‘electrifying support’.
He reiterates he is proud of the two trophies won, insisting that he will ‘cherish’ the achievenements ‘for the rest of my life’.
Ten Hag expresses sadness that his dream to win more has come to an end, yet wishes United ‘nothing but success, trophies and glory’ for the future.
Erik ten Hag statement in full
Dear fans, Let me start by thanking you. Thank you for always being there for the club. Whether it was at a game far away or a tough match at Old Trafford, your support has been unshakeable.
The atmosphere at Old Trafford has always been electrifying, thanks to you. I felt it many times. Also in away games, it gave the team and me an incredible feeling to hear the United chants taking over the opponents’ stadiums, whether the game was in England, Europe or during the summer tours.
I always enjoyed meeting Manchester United fans throughout the world. Walking the streets and being able to chat with fans in England, Europe, Asia, Australia, the USA – you inspired me and radiated a strong sense of unity. That’s what makes United supporters so special.
I want to thank you for giving me this feeling and for your support. I also want to thank the staff in every department of the club for their unwavering support in good times and bad.
We won two trophies – achievements that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Of course, my dream was to bring more trophies to the cabinet. Unfortunately, that dream has come to an end.
I wish all Manchester United fans nothing but success, trophies and glory. Your support and the warmth I received from everyone at the club helped me feel at home.
Thank you for this chapter in my life. Erik
