Man Utd given huge boost as £60m star pictured back in training for the first time since injury

Manchester United receive yet more good news during the Christmas period.

Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 3-2 on Boxing Day, thanks to a remarkable comeback. Two goals from Alejandro Garnacho and a first Premier League goal for Rasmus Hojlund were enough to give the Red Devils a fantastic victory at Old Trafford.

It was severely needed for Erik ten Hag, who will be a lot happier heading into the Nottingham Forest game about his first-team squad.

He’s set to be even happier, with his £60m summer acquisition pictured back in training.

Mason Mount back in training

As pictured above, Manchester United summer signing Mason Mount is back in training.

The England midfielder has been out since late November with a supposed calf problem, which ruled him out of the Everton clash and beyond.

Ten Hag said the following on the injury:

“There are reasons when you pick up injuries,” Ten Hag admitted. “The back four is not working, we have to make a lot of subs in the back four that affect the balance of the midfield.

“The front players we have to make a lot of changes, so then the routines are not there. Still, I think he has had his moments where he did very well. But I think that stopped in the moment he got injured.”

Nevertheless, it now appears the 24-year-old is back fit and will try to stake a claim in the first-team squad, although it hasn’t quite clicked for him yet.

Mount’s United career begins now?

It hasn’t been the best start for Mount with the Red Devils. He hasn’t hit the ground running and is yet to really belong anywhere in the squad.

He has been unlucky through injury… so could the time be now for Mount to come back and thrive? We sincerely hope so.
