Christian Eriksen was on the long list of absentees last weekend as Manchester United took on Spurs.
When Ruben Amorim spoke last weekend in advance of facing Tottenham Hotspur, it became clear that the injury absences were substantial.
Amorim revealed injury woes in his press conference last Friday, admitting his week of training his Manchester United side had not gone as planned.
More details emerged over the weekend, with Amad Diallo’s season coming to an end with damaged ankle ligaments. Amad’s season-ender sees him join Lisandro Martinez as a long-term absentee, with the Argentine suffering a torn cruciate ligament.
Kobbie Mainoo is set to miss as long as six weeks, which brings us toward the tail end of the season anyway, leaving Amorim very short on attack options. Both Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer were also sidelined with minor injuries – which took the total to 10 players injured.
Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro were also missing on Sunday, which forced Amorim to name seven academy players on his bench.
Now the Dane has shared a message updating fans on his status.

When will Christian Eriksen return for Manchester United?
Despite his obvious quality, Peter Schmeichel said it best when he explained Eriksen no longer suits the Premier League. Due to this, it is widely assumed that he will leave the club this summer.
So, with months left in Manchester, Eriksen will be keen to keep fit and play as often as he can, with the injury crisis making him an important member of the squad over the next run of games.

After his absence due to illness, Eriksen posted on his Instagram story, with a message to fans about his injury status right now.
“Looking ahead”, Eriksen wrote with a praise emoji, followed by a message to fans.
“I just wanted to thank everyone for the get well messages I’ve been receiving after missing the Spurs game. I picked up a virus like many people do at this time of year. Nothing serious and soon
ready to get back to training!”
Eriksen could play prominent role for United
United will be looking for a replacement for the 33-year-old in July, with Eriksen already exploring his options ahead of his contract expiring.
But if he manages to return soon, Eriksen could be set to play a big role for Amorim considering the absences of both Amad and Mainoo in the No.10 roles and United sitting 15th, needing all the help they can get.

Eriksen has been tipped to retire, but with his quality, a move to a less physically demanding league could prove inspiring and see him extend his career.
When on the ball in the third, Eriksen is United’s very best creator as he can pick out passes nobody else can as he showed against Southampton.
So hopefully Eriksen’s farewell tour brings plenty more quality.
