Manchester United are likely to overhaul the squad this year, with one player almost certain to leave.
Ruben Amorim’s squad has a lot of issues right now, with nobody under any illusions about how much work is needed.
Ineos are said to have only six unsellable players, however, even this number appears generous at the moment.
Despite all the issues – Friday night saw Manchester United win in the FA Cup fourth round, with eyes on retaining the trophy, however, one player failed to get a minute of action.

Christian Eriksen was left on the bench for the entirety of the game despite the struggles United had creating chances. With Amorim clearly not completely rating the Dane, now his exit this summer looks inevitable.

Peter Schmeichel says Christian Eriksen can’t play Premier League football
Eriksen has often looked out of place in the intense system deployed by Amorim, as he struggles to keep the pace needed from Amorim’s midfielders.
Now, Peter Schmeichel has outlined the reasons Eriksen is no longer a functioning Premier League midfielder, as quoted by Tips Bladet, while also tipped the midfielder for a move back to Ajax.
“I think that Ajax would be the right step for him. He is obviously a midfielder and to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League you have to be able to run back and forth for 90 minutes. That’s how it is.
“He no longer has that energy, but he is a fantastic player and still shows great things on the pitch. I think Ajax would be a great move for him.”
The departure of Eriksen is all but confirmed, with his contract expiring in June.
Eriksen’s performance against Newcastle was the clearest sign of this, but luckily for Amorim – there is a ready-made replacement currently in the academy.
Jim Thwaites is an Eriksen regen for Manchester United
Eriksen’s legs going is a shame because he still has so much quality and his footballing brain still works as quickly as anyone.
So finding a similar player, who has the legs to play in Amorim’s system is vital – something Jim Thwaites can do.
The U18 midfielder is one of the United’s most exciting talents – with Amorim already calling Thwaites into first-team training.
Thwaites is a special footballer, with his performances leaving many exciting, as he has been excellent on the left side in recent weeks.
Thwaites is capable of scoring incredible goals, taking set pieces and creating chances for his teammates – he can do it all.
At just 16, it will be a few years before we see him knocking on the first-team door, but all the signs are there.
