Chido Obi and Sekou Kone squad numbers confirmed, Man Utd assign seven youngsters

Ruben Amorim introduced several academy stars to the Manchester United first team for Sunday’s trip to Tottenham.

Manchester United have been hit by an injury crisis over the past week, leaving Ruben Amorim short of options for our trip to the capital.

After suffering an ACL injury, Lisandro Martinez has undergone surgery and is expected to be out for several months, including the start of next season.

Amad Diallo confirmed his ankle injury which is expected to rule him out for the remainder of the campaign, and there are also several absentees in midfield.

Amorim has suffered a triple injury blow in midfield with Kobbie Mainoo out for several weeks alongside Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer.

Squad numbers confirmed for seven Man United academy stars

With United struggling for injuries, Amorim included seven academy stars in his travelling squad to face Tottenham.

Elyh Harrison, Harry Amass, Sekou Kone, Tyler Fredricson, Chido Obi, Jack Fletcher and Jack Moorhouse have all been involved in the first team, and all seven youngsters have been assigned their first-team squad number.

All seven youngsters have been named on the bench for the trip to Tottenham, alongside January signing Ayden Heaven, United’s No.26 and Victor Lindelof.

Amorim handed out 27 debuts during his time as Sporting Lisbon boss, and he is now giving United’s youth their shot in the first team.

Summer signings Chido Obi and Sekou Kone get their chance

Since the Ineos takeover, United have focused on recruiting young talent for the academy, and two summer signings in the shape of Chido Obi and Sekou Kone have now made the step up.

Chido Obi scored a hat-trick for United’s Under-18s as recently as three days ago, and now he will be eagerly awaiting his first-team debut.

It felt inevitable that Chido Obi would be promoted to the first team after his scintillating form in the youth ranks.

As for Kone, he arrived this summer for £1.25 million from Malian club Guidars FC, and he is viewed as a very exciting midfield talent.

Just months after arriving in Manchester, the duo now find themselves on the brink of making their senior debut.

Chido Obi follows the likes of Charlie McNeill and Anthony Elanga in wearing the No.56, while Paul Pogba and Alvaro Fernandez both wore the No.42 which now belongs to Kone.
