Manchester United will want to end their losing streak when they face Newcastle United on Monday evening.

For the first time in his managerial career, Ruben Amorim has lost three successive matches – all it took was a month and a half in charge of Manchester United.

Defeats to Tottenham, Bournemouth and Wolves have dumped the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup and dropped them down to 14th in the Premier League table.

A loss to Newcastle at Old Trafford would see Amorim break an unwanted 62-year record with United losing five league games in a single calendar month.

Eddie Howe’s side will travel to Manchester full of confidence having won their last three games on the bounce. To make matters worse, Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are suspended after picking up cards against Wolves.

Chris Sutton predicts Man United vs Newcastle United

Newcastle find themselves in great form and on the brink of the top four after enjoying a superb run of form in December.

For United, it has been a terrible month. Amorim warned fans a “storm” would come, and that is proving to be extremely accurate.

Ahead of Monday’s clash, Chris Sutton has predicted the exact scoreline and he did not hold back on Andre Onana after his mistake against Wolves.

Via BBC Sport, Sutton said: “I am not concerned about Amorim getting the sack but it really does not help when your goalkeeper keeps on conceding goals direct from a corner – that is under-12s stuff.

“I remember it happening when I was watching my son play when he was about 15 and he got done off a corner. I told him you would never see it happen to a professional goalkeeper, but it has happened twice in two weeks to Manchester United – first to Altay Bayindir and then Andre Onana. You could not make it up.

“Their fans give me so much stick on social media whenever I say they will lose that it must have got to me a bit – I have become a bit of a chicken and have put them down to get a draw when my gut feeling has been for them to lose.

“That has got to stop, because they are rubbish. That is not on Amorim because we will judge him when he has a chance to bring in his own players but, for now, we have to see them for what they are, which is a really poor side.”

Three big decisions Ruben Amorim must make vs Newcastle

Pressure is already piling on Amorim to turn things around at United after a terrible run of results in December. He has three big decisions to make on Monday evening.

The first is what to do with Marcus Rashford. Since Rashford’s bombshell interview, he has been left out of the squad entirely. Amorim has left the door open to a return, and we will see if Rashford has done enough to work his way back into the matchday squad.

Another problem Amorim faces is what to do in midfield with Fernandes and Ugarte both out. Three academy stars could feature vs Newcastle if Amorim wants to try something new. Alternatively, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro could return.

Finally, Amorim has a big decision to make up front between Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. Goals have been an issue in recent weeks and Amorim must decide who will lead the line for United.
