Ruben Amorim has sent a clear-cut warning to Manchester United fans about their expectations ahead of the Red Devils’ Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Manchester United triggered the £9.25m release clause in Ruben Amorim’s Sporting CP contract last month and agreed to bring the Portuguese manager to Old Trafford.

Amorim, who inked a deal with United until June 2027, left Sporting CP and arrived at Old Trafford during the start of the November international break.

The 39-year-old Portuguese manager faces an uphill battle at the Premier League club after succeeding Erik ten Hag, who was sacked as United manager in October.

Amorim kicked off his reign with a 1-1 Premier League draw against Ipswich Town before United defeated Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League at Old Trafford.

The United manager then oversaw his first Premier League win on the weekend, with the Red Devils dismantling Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Amorim makes Man Utd prediction

Ruben Amorim has his biggest test as Manchester United manager on Wednesday evening, with the Red Devils travelling to the Emirates to face Arsenal.

United have managed five Premier League wins in 13 matches this season and the Red Devils are currently ninth in the league table.

Amorim’s men are only four points adrift from the Premier League top four and United could still challenge for Champions League football for next season.

The former Sporting CP boss warned United fans that there will still be “difficult moments” and his side could still be “found out” in some matches.

“I want to say different things, but I have to say it again: the storm will come,” Amorim said, as per Sky Sports.

“We are going to have difficult moments and we will be found out in some games. And I know that, because I’m knowing my players and I know football.

“So, I understand the difference between the teams. We are in the point that we are putting simple things in the team, without training. And you feel it.

“Against Everton, they were changing the way they were building up. They are a very good team and we had a lot of problems, because you cannot change by calling one thing to the captain. We don’t have this training.”

Amorim reiterates Man Utds ‘focus’

United will kick-off against Arsenal at 8:15pm UK time on Wednesday evening, with the Gunners trying to keep pace with Liverpool in the league title race.

Mikel Arteta’s men are nine points adrift from league leaders Liverpool and defeated West Ham 5-2 at the London Stadium on the weekend ahead of the United match.

Speaking ahead of the Arsenal match, Amorim insisted that he is well aware United are at a “different point” than the Gunners in terms of progression.

“So, let’s focus on each game, on the performance, what we have to improve to win games,” he continued.

“That is the focus. I know it’s hard to be a Manchester United coach and say these things in press conferences.

“We want to win all the time, no matter what. We are going to try to win, but we know we are in a different point if you compare us to Arsenal. It is what it is.

“We will try to win and go with confidence to win, but we know we need to play very well to win the next football match.”
