The storm which Ruben Amorim warned Manchester United fans about is in full effect.
With four Premier League losses in December, this month has been one to forget at Old Trafford.

After a turbulent month, Boxing Day’s 2-0 loss to Wolves will have absolutely spoiled Ruben Amorim’s Christmas period and left him in something of a crisis just over five weeks after his first game.
Amorim was handed an impossible hand by Ineos with the timing of his appointment, and the Portuguese head coach will just want to survive this period.
However, despite retaining the backing of the club and fans, Amorim simply needs to win games and if he fails against Newcastle, he will match an unwanted Manchester United record.

Ruben Amorim could match club record for games lost in a calendar month
Everyone understands that Amorim needs time to turn the appalling United side he inherited into a team resembling the great institution from Manchester.
However, he will not want to rack up unwanted records relating to defeats. Which is what a loss to Newcastle will do.
United losing to the Magpies would be the first time since 1962 and the management of Sir Matt Busby, that the club have lost five league fixtures in a calendar month.
| Date | Opponent | Venue | Score |
| 1 September 1962 | Birmingham City | H | 2–0 |
| 5 September 1962 | Bolton Wanderers | A | 3-0 |
| 8 September 1962 | Leyton Orient | A | 1-0 |
| 12 September 1962 | Bolton Wanderers | H | 3–0 |
| 15 September 1962 | Manchester City | H | 2-3 |
| 22 September 1962 | Burnley | H | 2-5 |
| 29 September 1962 | Sheffield Wednesday | A | 1-0 |
So quite evidently, United and Amorim must avoid defeat against Newcastle, or risk matching this horrific record which could pile pressure on Amorim as the club around him falls apart.
This is not the first Matt Busby record Amorim could match, as by winning his two opening games in Europe, he matched that record held by Busby and another legendary manager.
Amorim is replicating unwanted records from Manchester United greats
These records will be unwanted for Amorim, however, club history does show that they will not be deciding in his United career.
United sitting 14th on Boxing Day is the first time this has happened since December 1986 – in the first eight league games of Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary spell.
Ferguson both took charge of a club in turmoil like Amorim and Busby took charge upon the presumption of professional football after World War Two.
However, Amorim has a history of turmoil as when he took charge of Sporting they were at rock bottom. So regardless of defeat on Monday, United must back the head coach and let him have the time to work magic.
