Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Liverpool, five big Ruben Amorim decisions

Manchester United take on Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and Ruben Amorim will need the strongest team possible to take something away from the game.

It will be a day to remember if Manchester United are finally able to break the appalling record at Anfield.

United haven’t won at Anfield since 2016, when Wayne Rooney was the scorer, demonstrating how long it has been.

However, this weekend, Liverpool are on a three match losing streak and so United will fancy the chances of piling onto this misery and scoring a second win on the bounce for the first time under Ruben Amorim.

United will have a strong team available for the clash.

Predicted Manchester United XI to beat Liverpool at Anfield

Speaking ahead of the game, Amorim suggested that Noussair Mazraoui was unlikely to play, however, outside of the Moroccan and Lisandro Martinez, it should be full strength.

So here is our predicted line-up to take on Liverpool this weekend, with big decisions awaiting Amorim in goal, centre-back, left-wing-back, midfield and in the number 10 position.

Senne Lammens

In goal, Lammens made himself undroppable on his debut, with a performance so much better than Altay Bayindir has had.

Lammens will need to show the same level of performance in this one to make the Peter Schmeichel comparisons stick.

Matthijs de Ligt

Amorim tends to go for experience in bigger games, and therefore we see Leny Yoro on the bench with De Ligt on the right side of the back three.

De Ligt is having an excellent season for United and is almost undroppable right now.

Harry Maguire

With De Ligt on the right, Amorim will likely want the leadership of Maguire in the middle of the three.

It is the kind of game Maguire could step up big time in.

Luke Shaw

Starting on the left we see Shaw, as he will be desperate to put in a performance to stop Mohamed Salah.

Shaw hasn’t beaten Liverpool since 2013 when he was at Southampton, and so it would be massive if he can put in a good display for the win.

Amad

On the right, United need to go with Amad for the attacking threat, as the Ivorian has begun to find top form for club and country.

Amad has formed an excellent partnership down the right, and he is long overdue a goal, which could very well come against Liverpool.

Manuel Ugarte

In midfield, Casemiro only returned from international duty where he was in Japan this week and only trained once which could mean Ugarte is opted for.

Last season, Ugarte was excellent at Anfield and a similar performance could ignite his season.

Bruno Fernandes

Alongside Ugarte, we expect Fernandes to be starting as usual, with the club captain undroppable under Amorim.

Fernandes will need to be on top of his game for United.

Diogo Dalot

One big decision Amorim has is who starts at left wing-back, with Dalot our choice for the role ahead of Patrick Dorgu.

Dalot’s defensive qualities will be key in helping Shaw deal with Salah.

Bryan Mbeumo

United need to take advantage of Liverpool’s left-back weakness and Mbeumo is therefore a necessity.

Mbeumo has been one of United’s players of the season so far and he can make himself a hero with a big performance here.

Mason Mount

Starting ahead of Matheus Cunha on the left we expect Mount, after scoring his goal against Sunderland, he is a man in form.

United chiefs are thrilled with Mount and so is Amorim, therefore, this position is probably his to lose at the moment.

Benjamin Sesko

Starting up front, Sesko will be looking to add to his record of two goals in two games for United with another against Liverpool.

Sesko has impressed United fans so far and he has shone despite limited service, he should only get better and better.
