Manchester United have already made the biggest signing of deadline day by confirming the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
That’s probably the biggest and best deal ever completed on any deadline day, but there is still business to be done elsewhere.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Chelsea are working on a deal to loan in Saul Niguez, according to the Athletic.
Saul has been linked with United in the past and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still needs a central midfielder despite an impressive summer of business.
That’s not great news for United; Chelsea already look strong contenders for the title and could strengthen further.
The bigger issue is that a top central midfielder could be on the move in an affordable deal and United don’t look like they’re in the hunt.
The Athletic reported elsewhere that a new midfielder is not expected to follow Ronaldo through the door today.
Ruben Neves and Declan Rice have also been mentioned, but won’t be happening either.
