Pre-season kicks off against Wrexham on Saturday afternoon in Helsinki, Finland. Here is how we are expecting Manchester United to line up.
Manchester United meet Wrexham this weekend as Michael Carrick’s first full season as head coach gets underway with a friendly.
United have taken a youth-heavy squad to Helsinki, with World Cup involvement keeping several first-team players away from the squad for this friendly.
But Carrick could still field a strong team with some big names and exciting academy talents on the flight to Finland. Here is the starting line-up we are expecting.

No Benjamin Sesko in the squad…

How Manchester United could line up against Wrexham
This is how United’s first-half line-up could look against Wrexham.
Tom Heaton: In goal, Karl Darlow has remained in Manchester due to injury, and therefore, it could be a rare opportunity to see Tom Heaton in action. In the second-half, Radek Vitek should get the run out.
Jaydan Kamason: United are without a senior right-back for the trip to Helsinki. But Jaydan Kamason has been training and should start. There isn’t a second choice for United, but potentially Toby Collyer could get minutes in the second-half.
Harry Maguire: One of the senior regulars in the squad for this one is Harry Maguire, and he is likely to start and wear the armband against Wrexham. Leny Yoro should take his place for the second 45.
Ayden Heaven: With Lisandro Martinez in a World Cup final on Sunday, the centre-back department is light, but it gives Ayden Heaven the chance to start on the left side. Dan Armer would be his likely replacement at the break.
Luke Shaw: One position United have been linked with bolstering but haven’t strengthened yet is left-back, but against Wrexham, Luke Shaw will probably start. Harry Amass should then get the second half to show Carrick he deserves a bigger role next season.
Jacob Devaney: United are short in midfield for this game with Kobbie Mainoo at the World Cup and Youri Tielemans on holiday. So it will be an academy star starting here, and we have Jacob Devaney getting the nod to start after his brilliant loan at St Mirren. Tyler Fletcher is potentially the half-time replacement.
IF Andrey Santos is available to play Wrexham, who would you like to see him start alongside out of the available options?
Andrey Santos is training already!
Andrey Santos: Alongside Devaney, United’s £48m signing Andrey Santos should be in line to make his unofficial debut for the club. He will only play half the game, with Dan Gore a potential replacement.
Shea Lacey: Ahead of a huge season, Shea Lacey will probably be given a lot of opportunities this summer to show he is ready to be relied upon next season. Expect him to star. Jack Fletcher could be a second-half change.
Mason Mount: With no Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount feels like the probable starter in the number 10, which would end up being an eight in Carrick’s updated system. This season is do-or-die for Mount. Jim Thwaites would be his alternative.
Patrick Dorgu: On the left, JJ Gabriel is potentially going to get a chance in the next friendly, but Patrick Dorgu should start this one. Ethan Williams would be our pick to replace him at the break.

Bryan Mbeumo: Leading the line, Benjamin Sesko is injured, and so Bryan Mbeumo would be our pick to start up front. Replacing him will be one of Joshua Zirkzee, Chido Obi, or Ethan Wheatley.
