Cristiano Ronaldo saved Manchester United again in the Champions League.

Nobody was more grateful than manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Manchester United boss was seen embracing Ronaldo on the pitch after the game.

Ronaldo saves United, and saves Ole for now

Without United’s late goals the club would be sitting at the bottom of the group right now.

Ronaldo’s late strikes have picked up an additional five points for United, to sit on seven in total.

Without him, and with domestic form indifferent, Solskjaer would be in even more serious trouble than he already is.

Ultimately it probably won’t be enough to save the manager. He feels like a cat with nine lives right now.

But when a 5-0 loss to Liverpool is not enough to push the board to axe the manager, it seems like nothing will be.

So for now United are stuck with Solskjaer and a gameplan which is often erratic and defensively terribly executed.

Ronaldo bailed United out, and he will keep on doing it until he no longer can. It’s incredible to think he is 36.

Solskjaer will at least sleep a little easier tonight ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend.
