Heading into this season, Harry Amass looked nailed on to be the next breakout star for Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag had Harry Amass balling in pre-season, but since then the 17-year-old left-back has not had a sniff of first-team football.

Amass’ summer contributions saw him start throughout the tour of the USA, earning comparisons to Luke Shaw due to his style.

Manchester United view Amass as being a special talent and his breakthrough was hindering the signing of a new left-back. Amad Diallo even suggested Amass is a star of the future.

Due to a lack of opportunities, Aston Villa were a reported suitor for Amass last month. Now, ahead of the January transfer window, a big decision awaits.

Harry Amass set for big loan decision in January

The left wing-back position has been a big problem for United under Amorim, with Shaw’s latest injury blow only further highlighting this issue.

Logical thinking would assume Amass could be used against Arsenal on Wednesday night, as could Godwill Kukonki.

However, it is according to the Daily Mail that Amass’ chances of heading out on loan in January have been increased.

The report claims that a host of Premier League and Championship clubs are now looking to sign Amass on loan.

United however are yet to decide whether or not this will happen – after it was reported Amorim was keen to give Amass a chance in the coming weeks.

It will be a career-altering decision for both United and Amass with it having the potential to accelerate his development drastically.

Manchester United must use the loan market in January

In the same report – it was also claimed United are in the process of meetings to discuss the next steps for several players from U21 and U18 level.

Despite being tipped to shine under Amorim, Amass might suffer due to his suitability for the new system.

If Amass is not going to get first-team football, then he should be sent on loan. However, he is not the only youngster who should be loaned.

The likes of Ethan Wheatley and Gabriele Biancheri could both be realistically loaned out as they have outgrown youth football.

Meanwhile, the likes of Amir Ibragimov and Chido Obi-Martin could be next up to be called into the first-team.
