Luke Shaw has issued a statement amid a new setback with injury. He will miss the Arsenal game.
Manchester United will be without Luke Shaw for the trip to Arsenal. He has revealed he has suffered a ‘small setback’ with injury.
Shaw has not started a game for Manchester United since February due to injury. He did start for England in July, before suffering an injury in pre-season.
The left-back made his return for United against Ipswich Town as a substitute, also coming off the bench against Bodo/Glimt and Everton, playing 98 minutes across the three games.

Luke Shaw statement in full
Luke Shaw has confirmed via Instagram that he is facing a short spell out of action, and says nobody is more frustrated than he is.
His full statement can be read below, and it appears he is hurting mentally as much as he is physically.
“Hi guys it’s hurting a lot having to write this as I really thought I had got through my recent struggles and was on a positive path going forward, but unfortunately I’ve had a small setback.
“I’ve been through a lot and had a lot of ups and downs but this has definitely been my toughest period.
“I’m absolutely devastated and it’s extremely tough to come to terms with reality at this moment in time.
I understand there is gunna be people frustrated, angry, disappointed and I understand all that. There is no one feeling that more than me at this moment in time.
“But what I can promise is I will do everything I can to come back better soon to help this club achieve its ambitions this season.
“Thank you to everyone for the support. It really doesn’t go unnoticed and I really do appreciate it.”

Luke Shaw injury reaction
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim spoke after the win over Everton to say Luke Shaw wanted more game time than he was getting.
Amorim has treated Shaw carefully, however, perhaps not carefully enough. His setback is frustrating, because he could have been in line to start against Arsenal.
Lisandro Martinez’s suspension would have opened up a slot in Amorim’s three-man defence. Instead it could be Harry Maguire who steps in.
The good news, if there is any, is that Shaw says he has just had a ‘small setback’. But whether we see him again in 2024, is unclear.
