Manchester United’s valuation on Christopher Nkunku emerges, it’s nowhere near Chelsea’s asking price

Manchester United may still want to sign another forward before the transfer deadline but potential additions are falling by the wayside.

Manchester United actually enjoyed a productive weekend in the January transfer window.

Arsenal talent Ayden Heaven joined United on Saturday, finalising a move from his boyhood club to Old Trafford.

United then signed Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, luring the Danish left back after weeks of speculation.

Those are two exciting signings for the future and United will hope to see them develop into stars.

Marcus Rashford has now joined Aston Villa though and United may need to add another attacking threat.

Manchester United loan bid rejected

United were interested in signing Mathys Tel but a deal for the Bayern Munich forward now looks rather unlikely.

In fact, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claims that Tel is now on his way to join Tottenham Hotspur.

United have had other names in the mix with Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku on the radar.

Reports earlier in the season suggested that United wanted Nkunku, who was recommended by Ralf Rangnick long before his £52million move to Chelsea.

That interest has continued into January and The Athletic claim that United did make a loan bid for Nkunku on Sunday.

It’s suggested that Chelsea weren’t keen on a loan deal though – and neither was Nkunku.

The 27-year-old seemingly only wants to leave Chelsea on a permanent basis and wasn’t all that interested in a loan move.

Chelsea wanted £65million for that permanent move but United valued Nkunku at £40million.

That £25million gap is a huge one to be bridged and Nkunku will not be arriving at Old Trafford on deadline day barring a swift U-turn.

One option Manchester United could still sign after Christopher Nkunku snub

So, that’s Tel off the list and Nkunku joining him; so where do United turn now?

The clock is ticking and, if we had to guess, we would suggest that there won’t be an attacking signing after all.

United have though eyed Leon Bailey with the Jamaican potentially pushed out by Rashford’s arrival at Aston Villa.

Maybe Bailey can be snapped up before the deadline and The Athletic’s report suggests that Joao Felix can leave Chelsea – unlike Nkunku.

Villa are keen on Felix and any deal there could free up Bailey for a move to Old Trafford.

There isn’t much time left for United to strike though and Ruben Amorim may well be left down attacking options com the end of the window.
