Harry Amass seemed to be on the verge of a Manchester United breakthrough after shining in pre-season.
The 17-year-old full-back joined the Red Devils in the United States this summer and was a standout player under Erik ten Hag.
Amass caught the eye in pre-season and looked to be pushing for a first-team spot under the Dutchman. Amass impressed against Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Betis over the summer, but after returning to England his opportunities have been limited.
Amorim has been concerned about his wing-back options and United view Amass as a ‘special’ talent, but the Portuguese head coach seems hesitant to throw the teenager straight into first-team action.
Harry Amass is yet to make an appearance this season and now that United have signed Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon, his chances of a breakthrough look even smaller.

Man United make Harry Amass loan decision on deadline day
With Amass still a way off breaking into Amorim’s plans, the young defender has been linked with a loan move this month.
Aston Villa were linked to Amass in a move that would see him reunite with fellow United academy graduate Marcus Rashford.
United were actively working on a loan deal with Leicester City interested in Amass as Ruud van Nistelrooy eyes a potential reunion.
However, it seems Ineos have completed a U-turn on their decision as Daily Mail journalist Nathan Salt has told fans not to expect a loan deal for Amass to be completed on deadline day.
Instead, Ineos have shifted their focus to getting Amass the right move in the summer window.
Harry Amass can catch Ruben Amorim’s attention on loan
With Dorgu and Leon arriving at United, Amass has his work cut out to try and work his way into Amorim’s plans at left wing-back.
His best option is to go out on loan and impress. Amass has outgrown youth-level football after starring in United’s Under-18s side this season.

There have been concerns over Amass’ physicality – something Amorim has openly admitted he wants more of in his team.
The best way for him to improve in that area is to play regularly elsewhere and gather experience. A Championship loan would be ideal for the youngster, although it seems he will have to wait until the summer before a move is arranged.
