Manchester United could find themselves doing business with former head coach and now AC Milan boss Ruben Amorim this summer.

Just over five months after Ruben Amorim was sacked by Manchester United, he agreed to become the new head coach of AC Milan.

Ruben Amorim’s time at Old Trafford is not remembered fondly by supporters, but there were a handful of players who did improve under his coaching.

One of those is Mason Mount, who faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford because of his injury-plagued time at the club. Out of all the possible United players that Amorim could sign for Milan, Mount appears the most likely.

Ruben Amorim green lights Mason Mount deal

According to Italian outlet Milan Press, Mount has been proposed to AC Milan as a possible signing this summer.

Amorim has given the green light for Milan to begin negotiations for the 27-year-old midfielder, with the former United coach eager to reunite with Mount at the San Siro.

The report adds that Mount’s valuation is around €25 million (£22 million) this summer.

Mount has two years remaining on his United contract, with an option to extend another year to 2029.

Ruben Amorim fell in ‘love’ with Mason Mount

Just days after his appointment at Old Trafford, Amorim said he “loves Mount, praising his character and attitude.

“Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid”, Amorim said in late 2024.

“You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.”
