Ruben Amorim admits he already loves one Man Utd star – he has the ‘most important’ quality

Ruben Amorim first met his squad two weeks ago on Tuesday and now he’s admitted that he has developed a love for one Manchester United player.

After the horrendous campaign under Erik ten Hag, the new head coach has given everyone a clean slate and a fresh start.

Due to the new Ruben Amorim 3-4-3 system, players who previously looked done at the club could find themselves in key areas.

Amorim outlined his two main demands from his Manchester United players on Friday, with one player seemingly fitting the bill perfectly.

Mason Mount has had a nightmare at Old Trafford since his £55m move, but under Amorim, this could all be about to change. Mount has been tipped to shine under the coaching and system of Amorim. Now, the head coach has actually agreed with this.

Ruben Amorim loves Mason Mount

The qualities Mount possesses always had him well-placed to shine under Amorim’s system. Playing in one of the inside forward roles, we may even see the best version of Mount unleashed.

Speaking with club media, Amorim has been discussing Mount and his attitude – which he argues sets him apart.

“Mason Mount… I have to tell you I love that kid”, Amorim began to explain.

“You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.”

Amorim was heard praising Mount in training and has also now stated that the new system suits the United No.7 perfectly.

“He played in this system [before], so it’s perfect for him. I have two positions for Mason Mount, so he should be very happy!”

Mount being ‘perfect’ for the system only strengthens the claim that he will play a big role under Amorim.

What are Mount’s two Manchester United positions

Amorim having two possible ways to use Mount comes as an encouraging sign that the £55m investment United made may yet come good. Mount’s pressing ability is expected to be seen as a real benefit for Amorim.

One position will be behind the striker on either side as the inside forward/attacking midfield hybrid, which would probably be the ideal role for Mount. However, there is a lot of competition for places in this role, as Amorim said he won’t use wingers at wing-back.

A second option might be in central midfield – similar to how Amorim has used Pedro Goncalves from time to time at Sporting Lisbon.

If Mount can stay fit, the chances are that he will go on to be far better for United in the coming months than he has been for the previous 18 months.
