Ineos signing already eyed for summer transfer, double deal can fix Man Utd’s 2024 mistake

Manchester United’s winter transfer window has only just ended but already one club are eyeing up one of Ruben Amorim’s players.

The January transfer window saw plenty of positives for Manchester United, but the forward line was undoubtedly a negative.

Ineos let Antony, Ethan Wheatley and Marcus Rashford leave on loan with no replacements arriving, which does make Ruben Amorim’s options look slim.

United have struggled in front of goal anyway, and this will not do anything to improve things. However, it does mean Amorim can integrate youth such as Jack Moorhouse into the squad.

The summer is expected to bear witness to plenty more ins and outs within Amorim’s front line and now an Ineos signing is being lined up as a target for Napoli.

Napoli target summer swoop for Joshua Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee’s first six months or so with Manchester United have been a disaster, yet he opted to stay in January amid interest from AC Milan and Juventus.

However, it seems he will have another chance to return to Serie A in the summer according to a report from Corriere dello Sport on Tuesday.

The report from the Italian outlet explains that Zirkzee is a player who pleases Napoli and Antonio Conte ahead of summer 2025.

The Dutch forward is labelled an ‘indisputable talent’ as they referenced his incredible season with Bologna.

If Zirkzee is going to be high on Napoli’s agenda it is a move which could see United fix a big mistake from 2024.

Manchester United could sign Victor Osimhen in return

Where Napoli’s interest in Zirkzee gets interesting is that United hold an interest in signing Victor Osimhen from the Serie A side.

The aforementioned article states that Osimhen could cost €75m (£62m) for clubs outside of Italy in the summer, a figure which United could subsidise heavily with the sale of Zirkzee.

Last month, Osimhen was described as being one of Amorim’s priority additions, so signing him in the summer would be welcomed by the head coach.

It would also see United sign the striker that should have been signed all along, ahead of Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee in the past two summers.

Osimhen is a giant upgrade on United’s current options up top and it could prove a game-changer for the 2025/26 season.

The summer already looks like an exciting one.
