When the summer transfer window in 2023 came to a close, Manchester United had five players out on loan.

By time the January 2024 deadline passed, Manchester United had 17 players out on loan at various clubs.

United have once again been busy finding clubs for players to continue their development, and we have compiled a complete list of every single one. There are eight in total at present, after Joe Hugill and Elyh Harrison were recalled.

Radek Vitek (BW Linz)

Manchester United’s pre-season star, Radek Vitek, impressed out on loan at Accrington Stanley last season in League Two.

Now he is playing for Austrian top flight side BW Linz, who lauded the deal as ‘unthinkable’. Vitek has begun well with two clean sheets in his first two games.

Rhys Bennett (Fleetwood Town)

Vitek’s FA Youth Cup winning teammate, Rhys Bennett has joined Fleetwood Town on loan for the season.

Bennett is optimistic his spell at the League Two club is a successful one, after a frustrating stint at Stockport last season.

Sonny Aljofree (Accrington Stanley)

Young centre-back Sonny Aljofree has signed on a season long loan deal with League Two side Accrington Stanley.

Aljofree recently signed a new deal at United, and this will be his first loan in the Football League, having previously been on two development loans at Altrincham.

James Nolan (Inverness Caledonian Thistle)

Right-back James Nolan has agreed a deal to play for Scottish Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Nolan, 18, gets his first ever loan deal under the tutelage of manager Duncan Ferguson, the former Everton striker.

Jadon Sancho (Chelsea)

Unlike the rest of these players, Jadon Sancho is not expected to return to Manchester United.

United insisted on an ‘obligation to buy’ as part of this loan deal, at a set fee between £20-25 million dependent on Chelsea’s final league position. Sancho won’t be eligible to play against the Red Devils.

Tom Myles (Runcorn Linnets)

Another young goalkeeper, Tom Myles has secured a move to non-league side Runcorn Linnets, where he can play regular first team football.

Preston-born Myles has made 20 appearances for United’s under-18s side, and for the under-21s twice.

Ethan Ennis (Doncaster Rovers)

Ethan Ennis became the first player to leave Manchester United on loan during the January transfer window, signing with Doncaster Rovers and immediately making his debut in the FA Cup.

Ennis has had an excellent season for United at under-21 level and this is a great opportunity for him to play first team football.

Joe Hugill (Carlisle United)

Manchester United have found a new club for Joe Hugill, with the young striker sent out on loan to Carlisle United in League Two.

It is another chance for Hugill after injury impacted his loan spell at League One side Wigan Athletic.

Ethan Williams (Cheltenham Town)

Under-21s forward Ethan Williams has signed on loan with League Two side Cheltenham Town.

This is the first loan spell of Williams’ career, and a chance for the 19-year-old to make a name for himself.

Jack Kingdon (Rochdale AFC)

Man Utd’s treble-winning captain of the U18s last season has joined National League side Rochdale till the end of the season.

Kingdon signed professional terms with Man Utd last summer and moves for the first loan spell of his career at playoff hopefuls Rochdale.

Ethan Wheatley (Walsall)

Prolific academy striker Ethan Wheatley has joined League Two side Walsall for the remainder of the campaign.

Wheatley made his Manchester United debut in 2024 under Erik ten Hag, and also featured in pre-season. Now he hopes to get more regular minutes under his belt.

Dan Gore (Rotherham)

Midfielder Dan Gore has joined Rotherham on loan for the rest of the campaign. It is the second loan of his career after an injury-hit stint at Port Vale.

The injury also kept him out of pre-season, and now fit again, Gore is looking to get his career up and running.

Marcus Rashford (Aston Villa)

Manchester United’s top scorer in the 2022/23 season, Marcus Rashford is now out on loan at Aston Villa.

The majority of Rashford’s wages are being covered, with Villa having an option to buy as part of the deal.

Louis Jackson (Tranmere Rovers)

Manchester United’s FA Youth Cup winning centre-back is getting a first ever loan spell, moving to Tranmere Rovers on deadline day.

Sam Mather (Tranmere Rovers)

Promising winger Sam Mather joins Jackson on loan at League Two side Tranmere. Also a FA Youth Cup winner, he had a successful loan stint at non-league side Rochdale last season.

Tyrell Malacia (PSV Eindhoven)

Surplus to requirements after the signing of Patrick Dorgu, Tyrell Malacia has been permitted to sign on loan with PSV Eindhoven.

It is a chance for Malacia to play regular football again after missing 18 months of action due to injury.

Antony (Real Betis)

Eventually overlooked by Erik ten Hag and never a serious contender under Ruben Amorim, Antony was sent packing for a temporary stint with Real Betis.

Antony has a chance to perform in a less pressured environment and enjoy his football again.
