Ineos have identified Matheus Cunha as a top target for Manchester United heading into the summer window.
Ruben Amorim has asked for attacking reinforcements and Ineos are keen to deliver.
Manchester United have held positive talks over Matheus Cunha just days after the Wolves forward starred in a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
Cunha has a £62.5m release clause in his current Wolves deal, and United are prepared to match that value to bring the Brazilian in the summer.
It is no secret that United are short of cash heading into the window, so a big-money deal will take a sizeable chunk out of the budget.

How much will Matheus Cunha earn at Man United?
In order to regain control over the finances at Old Trafford, Ineos have been eager to put a wage structure in place.
In January, Patrick Dorgu was signed on a £38,500 per week deal making him one of the lowest earners in the first team.
Cunha signed a new deal at Wolves in February understood to make him one of the club’s highest earners, and transfer expert Graeme Bailey has told United in Focus that a move to Manchester will see the Brazilian forward earn well north of £100,000 per week.
According to The Telegraph, Cunha’s move to United would see him join a group of players earning over £200,000 per week.
United are expected to sell some of their biggest earners in the summer including Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho. Cunha’s wages will be in line with the new wage structure implemented by Ineos.
Matheus Cunha to join top earners at Man United
In the 2023/24 season, United’s wage bill was £364.7million but Ineos have been keen to cut that figure significantly.
United’s player wages in 2025 have five players at the club earning over £200,000 per week – Cunha is set to join that category if he makes a switch to Old Trafford.
| Casemiro | £350,000 per week |
| Marcus Rashford | £300,000 per week |
| Bruno Fernandes | £300,000 per week |
| Mason Mount | £250,000 per week |
| Antony | £200,000 per week |
Casemiro is currently the top earner at United although the Brazilian could be shown the exit this summer with a potential move to Saudi Arabia on the cards.
Aston Villa are paying a minimum of 75% of Rashford’s wages during his loan spell this season, while Real Betis are also covering the majority of Antony’s salary
