Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has cleared up Manchester United’s plans to buy a striker this summer.
Manchester United are just hours away from announcing a £71m Bryan Mbeumo deal as the third major signing of the summer.
Beyond that, Romano says United want to sign a striker next, and Ineos are wasting no time getting to work behind the scenes.
The Red Devils have already missed out on Liam Delap, and now Hugo Ekitike is close to joining Liverpool. Ruben Amorim was eager to reunite with Viktor Gyokeres, but Arsenal stand in the way of the Swedish striker moving to Manchester this summer.

Fabrizio Romano clears up Man United’s Viktor Gyokeres hijack
There were rumours from Portugal that United could hijack the Gyokeres deal, but Romano has now cleared up exactly what is going on.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano explained that the stories in Portugal are coming from transfer intermediaries rather than from the player or his agent.
“Intermediaries have been working on this possibility to present Viktor Gyokeres to Manchester United, but it was not even possible to advance,” Romano said.
“That is as of today, with the market, we never know.
“But as of today, it is very clear that Viktor Gyokeres says Arsenal. He wants to join Arsenal and he is only convinced by Arsenal’s project.”
The hope of United potentially swooping in for Gyokeres has been shut down, but there is one exciting striker target confirmed to be on Ineos’ radar.
Man United tracking Benjamin Sesko this summer
United drew 0-0 with Leeds in their first pre-season friendly of the summer, and it is far from being the first time that Amorim has been frustrated at his side’s lack of goals.
A striker is needed, and Graeme Bailey has previously told United in Focus that there is concrete interest in Sesko this summer.
Sesko is expected to cost around £68m this summer, and Romano has revealed that United are showing interest but would have to rely on sales taking place first.
“One of the names being mentioned internally in recent weeks is also Benjamin Sesko, a player who is well known at Manchester United,” he said.
“But in this case, before entering into concrete talks, we will have to wait and see what will happen at Man United with outgoings.
“I told you how important it would be at Man United to let some players go to help financially. Marcus Rashford is going to Barcelona but there is also Sancho, Antony and all the rest including Alejandro Garnacho.”
