Manchester United may not be out of the race for Viktor Gyokeres just yet if reports from Portugal are accurate.
The arrival of Ruben Amorim as Manchester United head coach immediately sparked rumours of interest in Viktor Gyokeres.
Gyokeres was open to joining United this summer despite the Red Devils missing out on European football, but affording the Swedish striker proved difficult.
Ineos were solely focused on getting the Bryan Mbeumo deal done, but now that the Brentford star is set to join, a move for Gyokeres could be revisited.

Man United reportedly close to Viktor Gyokeres agreement
With United focused on Mbeumo, reports suggested Gyokeres was close to joining Arsenal, but the North London club are struggling to finalise an agreement.
Arsenal talks over Gyokeres stalled, with Sporting’s club president stubbornly holding out for their asking price.
Gyokeres could still join United over Arsenal if talks collapse, and Portuguese outlet Sic Noticias are now reporting that the Red Devils could swoop.
They claim United are “very close” to striking an agreement for Gyokeres, with Ineos willing to match the values offered by Arsenal.
United are in the market for a striker after securing Mbeumo, and Ineos may not have given up on signing Gyokeres just yet.
Man United sales could help fund Viktor Gyokeres hijack
It has been known all summer that United will likely have to sell to buy, and Ineos are finally making progress on that front.
Marcus Rashford is close to joining Barcelona, while talks remain over Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho’s exit.
Offloading United’s ‘bomb squad’ will clear the wage bill and raise funds, crucially enough to launch a last-ditch effort for Gyokeres.
Arsenal’s offer for Gyokeres is a fixed €63.5 million, which rises to €70 million (£60m), however Sporting’s president has previously suggested that the Swedish star will not be sold for that amount.
If United can better Arsenal’s deal and present an offer that pleases Sporting’s chiefs, we could yet see Gyokeres reuniting with Amorim this summer.
