Manchester United’s summer transfer window might finally be kicking into gear this week with a striker next on the priority list.
There is no denying that Manchester United’s summer transfer plans have not came to fruition so far.
Jason Wilcox would have been delighted that United signed Matheus Cunha on July 1st, but he will be frustrated that it has taken six weeks to secure a transfer move for Bryan Mbeumo, with a £70m expected to be accepted.
This double move is a serious upgrade to the attacking ranks for United, adding 35 Premier League goals from last season to an squad which scored 44 goals in its entirety.
However, as exciting as the two new number 10s are, United also need to sign a new striker. After missing out on Liam Delap to Chelsea, United put this on the back-burner, but could now re-accelerate efforts to bolster the position.

Manchester United could turn attention toward Benjamin Sesko
Over the past six months, United have been linked with almost every top striker in Europe, but most are no longer on the table.
However, speaking with The United Stand on YouTube, Ben Jacobs has suggested that Benjamin Sesko is one to watch for United.
“I still think we might see some legs in the Benjamin Sesko saga. United went for him 12 months ago, he’s not going to Arsenal because of Viktor Gyokeres, Chelsea are one to watch. So I can see a scenario where United turn to him.”
This follows TBR Football’s report that Sesko’s agents have kept United informed on his future, suggesting that Christopher Vivell’s long held admiration remains in place. United’s director of recruitment once praised Sesko, as quoted by Bundesliga.
“Benjamin Sesko is among the game’s top young talents and has enormous potential to become a top player. He has all the qualities to do that. He’s extremely quick, has a great jump on him, and is strong in the air. Benjamin is a real goalscorer, who despite his 1.95m (6’4″) is mobile and technically strong. His abilities make him a special player with a special profile.”
Sesko is the last elite option available to United this summer and now that Mbeumo is almost done, Ineos should be weighing up a move for the Solvenian.
Benjamin Sesko is perfect for both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo
Sesko would have been far from United’s top choice this summer, but when it comes down to it, he might be the best option available if the plan is to spend big.
Despite Leipzig setting a £86m price tag, reports have suggested that Leipzig would be open to receiving just £68m for him this summer.
United have been linked with Sesko all summer and now we can see that he would be an excellent fit up top in Ruben Amorim’s system alongside the two other attackers.
Sesko is a striker who pushes defensive lines backwards due to his rapid speed and this would create a lot of space for the two number 10s to cause havoc against defences.
Both Cunha and Mbeumo thrive when having space and played behind a striker like Sesko, making this transfer a good fit. Whether United can afford it is another debate altogether, but there is certainly life in the transfer window for United again.
