Fabrizio Romano believes that Manchester United will have to brace themselves for another transfer approach for one of Ruben Amorim’s key first-team players in 2026.
The transfer reporter has insisted that one Manchester United star is still on the radar for clubs in one country and they “keep thinking” about signing him.
Ruben Amorim was able to see major improvements to his United first-team squad in the summer amid the arrival of new signings and the offloading of other players.
Ineos splashed out on new players and United brought in the likes of Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo and Senne Lammens.
United manager Amorim also axed several players through loan deals and full-on sales, with the likes of Andre Onana and Alejandro Garnacho leaving Old Trafford.

Fabrizio Romano speaks out on Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes and the transfer interest from Saudi Arabia
Bruno Fernandes was subject to Saudi Arabia’s interest in the summer and Saudi Pro League clubs were interested in landing Ruben Amorim’s prized talisman.
Al Hilal were heavily linked with Bruno Fernandes and were ready to put the 31-year-old Manchester United captain on a lucrative contract if he left Old Trafford.
However, Fernandes turned down Al Hilal’s transfer interest and the Portugal international remained at the Premier League club for the 2025-26 campaign.
Fabrizio Romano has insisted that the United midfielder is “one to watch in 2026” and Saudi Arabia’s transfer “shortlist” had Fernandes’ name on there.
Speaking on the ‘Here We Go Podcast,’ he said: “Yeah, I think, for sure, the situation of Bruno Fernandes will be one to watch in 2026 again because as we mentioned on here on Men In Blazers on our podcast.
“From Saudi [Arabia], when they have a name on their shortlist of a top player like Bruno Fernandes, it’s very difficult to see them removing that name from their shortlist and going for someone else.
“So, they had to do that several times in the recent years because Bruno didn’t want to join. But they keep thinking about Bruno Fernandes.”
Fabrizio Romano on Saudi Arabia’s stance over Bruno Fernandes and the country’s 2026 ‘temptation’ moment
Bruno Fernandes’ performances have come under scrutiny this season after United manager Amorim dropped him into a deeper midfield role in his system.
However, the Red Devils skipper has remained as influential as ever at the Premier League club and Fernandes scored in United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday.
Romano added that Saudi Arabia is likely to try and “tempt” Fernandes to leave Old Trafford once again in the aftermath of the 2026 World Cup in North America.
“Then, in 2026, I think from Saudi, they will be back,” he continued.
“They will try again. They will try to tempt Bruno after the World Cup. Let’s see what he decides to do.
“But at the moment, what I can guarantee is that Bruno is fully focused on Man United.”
Fernandes’ current contract with United expires in 2027 and the Portuguese midfielder has netted twice in six appearances for the Red Devils this season.
