Manchester United fans dropped their instant clear-cut reactions to Bruno Fernandes after the Portugal midfielder made a stance on the transfer interest from Al Hilal.
Bruno Fernandes has remained a key Manchester United first-team player for Ruben Amorim and retained the club armband under the United manager last season.
The 30-year-old United captain showed his excellence once again on the pitch in the 2024-25 season by scoring 19 times and picking up 19 assists in 57 matches.
Fernandes’ superb form amid a turbulent season at Old Trafford earned the United star the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a record-tying fourth time.
The United midfielder is widely considered the best signing in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson of the club after his arrival at Old Trafford from Sporting CP in 2020.
Fernandes inked a new contract with United last summer and is tied down with the club until 2027, but the Portugal international’s future has been cast in uncertainty.

What Man Utd fans are saying about Bruno Fernandes after the Portugal star made his decision on Al Hilal’s transfer interest
Al Hilal have been linked with Bruno Fernandes and the Saudi Pro League outfit were keen to sign the Manchester United star ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Saudi Arabia side were reportedly ready to offer a lucrative package to lure Fernandes to the Saudi Pro League in the summer transfer window.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that Fernandes has “rejected” the move to Saudi Arabia, despite the “crazy contract proposal” from the Saudi Pro League side.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, welcomed the decision for Fernandes to remain at Old Trafford and not to sign for Al Hilal.
One Red Devils supporter wrote: “Bruno Fernandes is giving basically his entire career to the worst [iteration] of Manchester United we’ve ever known. You do absolutely everything in your power to make sure he leaves with the trophies he deserves.”
“Words cannot express my gratitude towards Bruno right now,” another United fan said.
Someone else commented: “Bruno Fernandes will go down as a top 10 player to ever play for this club. LEGEND [sic].”
A fourth X user posted: “So, so happy for him! He is still my favourite player in this team, we can also sign players without [the] Al Hilal money, so just sign players and Bruno will be our leader in [the] next season with better players!”
“Big respect [to] Bruno Fernandes,” a fifth tweeted.
While another United fan added: “Bruno turning down the Saudi Pro League to remain at Manchester United; I hope it’s not a bad decision, but regardless, we United fans are happy.”
Somebody else said: “I can’t imagine Manchester United without Bruno Fernandes!”
And an eighth suggested: “I think it’s fair to say this is a (better-managed) version of the 2010 [Wayne] Rooney saga. Of course, no drama on Bruno’s end here, but we have gone out in the market ([Matheus] Cunha, [Bryan] Mbeumo) and given him reason to feel the club isn’t finished yet. So happy to be keeping one of the best.”
Ruben Amorim spoke out on Bruno Fernandes’ Man Utd future after Al Hilal were linked with the player
Following United’s 3-1 win over Hong Kong on the post-season tour last month, Ruben Amorim admitted that he was unsure of Fernandes’ future at the club.
“He is saying no to a lot of things,” he said in May, as per BBC Sport.
“He needs to be in the best league in the world.
“Of course, I talk to him, I explain things and I just have that feeling. When you talk to someone, you have that feeling if he wants to stay.
“The feeling I get every time I speak with him is that he wants to continue for sure with Man United. You never know.”
Fernandes represented United on their post-season tour of Asia and has now linked up with the Portugal team for the Nations League semi-final clash against Germany.
