Fabrizio Romano has revealed that one of Ruben Amorim’s first-team Manchester United players is continuing to attract transfer interest in Italy after the summer window closed.
The transfer reporter shared an update on an “important player” for Ruben Amorim and the Manchester United manager’s true feelings on the star at Old Trafford.
The 40-year-old former Sporting CP manager saw the Red Devils return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday, with United defeating Chelsea 2-1.
Both United and Chelsea were down to 10 men each at Old Trafford after the dismissals of Casemiro and Robert Sanchez in the first half on the weekend.
The Red Devils avoided a late comeback from the Blues after Trevoh Chalobah pulled one back for Chelsea and clinched all three points on Saturday evening.

Fabrizio Romano explains Ruben Amorim’s position on Man Utd striker Joshua Zirkzee
Joshua Zirkzee had been linked with a potential exit in the summer transfer window and the 24-year-old Dutch forward had attracted interest from clubs in Italy.
The Netherlands international struggled to impress as a consistent goalscoring threat in his debut season at Old Trafford after his 2024 move from Serie A side Bologna.
Joshua Zirkzee had attracted interest during the 2025 January transfer window as well and Serie A outfit Juventus were linked with signing the former Bologna man.
Fabrizio Romano has said that Ruben Amorim views Zirkzee as an “important player” and likes the Manchester United star’s ability to play both as a striker and as a No 9.
Speaking for GiveMeSport, the Italian reporter added that the United manager “stopped” Zirkzee from making his Old Trafford exit both in January and during the summer.
Fabrizio Romano breaks down the transfer interest in Man Utd star Joshua Zirkzee from Italian clubs
Joshua Zirkzee has been limited to sporadic appearances for United in the 2025-26 campaign and has not made a single start for the Red Devils this season.
The Netherlands striker has been starved of United first-team minutes and Zirkzee has played in three matches for United in the 2025-26 season under Amorim.
According to Romano, there are Italian clubs that have “not stopped thinking about” the Dutch forward and are “keeping a close eye on the situation” around him.
He added that clubs in Italy could eye a potential January 2026 swoop or wait until next summer to pursue United striker Zirkzee, who is under contract until 2029.
Zirkzee, whose future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, has been linked with several Serie A clubs before, including AC Milan, Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus.
Romano suggested that the former Bayern Munich player is “one case to watch for in 2026” and that clubs in Italy have “not stopped tracking” Zirkzee at United.
