Ranking all seven of Manchester United’s signings made in 2025

Manchester United added seven new players to Ruben Amorim’s squad throughout 2025 and it will be remembered as a year with successful recruitment.

The year started with Ruben Amorim making his first-ever signings as Manchester United head coach in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils completed a £25m deal for Patrick Dorgu, while Arsenal academy star Ayden Heaven was signed for £1m – a fee which now looks like a real bargain for United.

WHAT are your BOLD predictions for 2026?🔮

Silverware? Big signings? Ruben Amorim's future?

Fast-forward to the summer and United spent £232m on five signings to strengthen Amorim’s squad, especially in attack with the trio of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Here are all seven of United’s 2025 signings ranked:

7. Diego Leon

A £7m deal for Diego Leon was agreed in the January window, but the Paraguayan defender had to wait until the summer when he turned 18 years old to make the move official.

Leon impressed in pre-season and was kept at Carrington for the first half of the 2025/26 season, where he has been making good progress.

Now, Leon is tipped to go out on loan in 2026. He has shown glimpses of brilliance in the Under-21s, but he is still an extremely raw talent who needs time to develop.

6. Benjamin Sesko

A potentially harsh ranking for £66m signing Benjamin Sesko, but the Slovenian striker has only scored two Premier League goals in his first 14 appearances.

However, there is confidence that Sesko is an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund from within Carrington, and Amorim has spoken extremely highly of his work-rate and attitude behind the scenes.

Injuries and inconsistency have stopped Sesko from hitting the ground running in Manchester, but there is still optimism that he has a bright future ahead.

5. Patrick Dorgu

Amorim’s first signing at United, and an addition made specifically to suit the 3-4-2-1 formation as a specialised wing-back.

Patrick Dorgu was the star of pre-season during the tour of the United States, and he has enjoyed a handful of brilliant performances.

Consistency is understandably an issue with Dorgu still just 21 years old. With Amorim adapting to a four-at-the-back formation, there will also be some concerns about where he will play moving forward.

4. Ayden Heaven

Heaven made his United debut in March, just a few months after completing his move to Manchester.

Let us know your view on Ineos’ youth recruitment in the comments below!

Despite being just 18-years-old when he made the move to United, Heaven has always been considered a first-team signing, and he has gone from strength to strength in 2025/26.

Heaven’s best game came against Aston Villa, where he was making his fourth consecutive start in the Premier League.

For just £1 million, United will know they have signed an absolute star. But Heaven must stay grounded and keep showing signs of progress.

3. Matheus Cunha

It feels wrong for Matheus Cunha to only just make the podium in this ranking, as the Brazilian has made an instant impact at Old Trafford.

Cunha has been compared to Eric Cantona ever since he walked through the doors at Carrington. His presence and character have been hugely refreshing to see in the squad, and his performances have lived up to expectations.

Amorim said that Cunha was “struggling” mentally after not scoring as much as he’d like at the start of his United career, but the goals are starting to flow for the Brazilian at the end of the calendar year.

2. Senne Lammens

Perhaps the biggest success of Ineos’ recruitment model.

When even Ruben Amorim wanted to sign Emiliano Martinez, Ineos stuck to their data-driven approach and backed an £18m deal for Senne Lammens.

The 23-year-old arrived as a fairly unknown prospect, but his start at Old Trafford has been nothing short of brilliant.

Lammens has shown an elite mentality needed to be a United goalkeeper, and he could easily be the first-choice shot-stopper for the next decade.

1. Bryan Mbeumo

It is Bryan Mbeumo who takes top spot.

Mbeumo ends the year as United’s top scorer in 2025/26 after netting seven goals in all competitions. His departure to AFCON will be felt by the Red Devils over the coming weeks as Mbeumo has been United’s main goal threat.

Ultimately, Mbeumo has transformed United’s attack, adding pace, power and a crossing ability previously not seen in the squad.

The 26-year-old has been an immeasurable upgrade on Alejandro Garnacho and has already proven he is worth every penny spent on his signature.
