Benjamin Sesko is attracting criticism at Manchester United despite enjoying a fairly strong start to the season at a new club.
Gary Neville unfairly criticised Benjamin Sesko following the 4-2 win over Brighton. The Manchester United legend argued the striker “doesn’t look like he’s combining well” with teammates despite picking up an assist.
The criticism continued the following week, with Neville calling Sesko ‘awkward’ during the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Even before the season had started, Sesko was named the worst signing of the summer by agents.
The Slovenian has been up against it ever since arriving in Manchester, but those inside the club have a different view of the £66 million signing.

Benjamin Sesko is more ‘compatible’ than Rasmus Hojlund
Despite Rasmus Hojlund wanting to stay at United, Amorim ultimately decided that the Red Devils needed to head in a new direction by signing Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko has already matched Rasmus Hojlund’s goal tally last season in the Premier League, despite only playing 586 minutes of top-flight football.
According to The Sun, club sources have stressed that Sesko is “much more compatible” than Hojlund was.
The report adds that “staff despaired at Hojlund’s naivety”, whereas Sesko is viewed as a more experienced star.
Amorim is delighted with Sesko’s attitude, with the Slovenian eager to learn as much as possible to drive his development.
Some may look at Hojlund’s impressive start at Napoli and wonder whether United have made a mistake, but Sesko is already proving to be an upgrade up front.
Benjamin Sesko is a good fit for Ruben Amorim
At Sporting Lisbon, Amorim had huge success playing with a physically dominant striker in the shape of Viktor Gyokeres.
Gyokeres made his name under Amorim before completing his move to Arsenal this summer.
Last season, Hojlund struggled to win physical duels, which meant United were rarely able to play through him in build-up.
In contrast, Sesko has adapted well to the physicality of the Premier League. Standing at 6ft 5in with an incredible top speed of 35.47 km/h, he has the characteristics to be a brilliant centre-forward.
The arrival of Sesko has allowed Amorim to adapt his tactics and play more directly to the Slovenian striker when needed. His hold-up play is a huge improvement on that of Hojlund, and it is an underrated part of his game.
