On Friday night, Manchester United’s first-team struggled to a 2-1 victory over Leicester, but the U21s picked up a comfortable victory.

Despite hope over a Chido Obi senior debut on Friday, the chances of this were always slim when considering the U21s were also due to play.

Manchester United’s U21 line-up saw Obi up front – while Malachi Sharpe and Jack Moorhouse on either side as Travis Binnion’s side moved into third in the table, just four points off top.

United beat Spurs on the night, with Sharpe scoring along with Moorhouse – thanks to assists from Harry Amass and Obi.

It was an impressive display which emphasised the improvements that the U21 side has had this season with several U18s stepping up into the first-team.

But there is one player in particular who has become undeniable in recent weeks.

Jack Moorhouse stars in Manchester United U21 win

United’s U21s beat Spurs 2-0 on Friday night, but it arguably should have been more.

The scoring was opened after Obi’s pressing gave Sharpe a one-on-one chance which the winger took well for his second goal in as many games.

However, the real star of the show for United was Moorhouse – as he scored his third U21 goal in the past four PL 2 games.

Moorhouse’s elite ball-carrying was showcased in his goal as he went on a solo run and finished the chance well.

The U21s standout player right now is Moorhouse and it certainly seems like a matter of time before Amorim gives him his deserved opportunity.

Ruben Amorim should give Moorhouse a chance

Moorhouse has been knocking on Amorim’s door for months.

Amorim watched Moorhouse score a brace in December, which was a performance that surely thrust the teenager into the forefront of players who could step up.

Following this display, Amorim drafted Moorhouse into first-team training to get a closer look at the attacking midfielder who possesses qualities which would make him perfect for the No.10 role.

Moorhouse is making up for lost time this season – after missing over a year through injury – with his performances leading to fans clamouring to see him in the first-team.

This performance was yet another example of his tremendous ability and has us believing that a step up is imminent. He is the most ready academy player to make the jump.
