Manchester United’s U21 side picked up an impressive 5-1 victory on Saturday against Southampton at Carrington.
It was a very good afternoon for Travis Binnion on Saturday as he saw his Manchester United side thump Southampton 5-1.
The scoring was started by Tyler Fletcher as he struck a brilliant volley which was hit into the ground before looping the goalkeeper, into the net.
Captain Dan Gore made it 2-0 as he struck a low shot into the bottom corner. He also assisted two other goals in the game, as Gore was our man of the match.
Ethan Wheatley also got a goal, but it was Jack Moorhouse who stole the headlines. The 19-year-old scored twice, with his second being a mesmerising run on the ball before slotting home.

Dave Hughes raves over Jack Moorhouse
Following arguably the U21’s best performance of the season, during an interview on MUTV, assistant U21 coach Dave Hughes had a lot of praise for Moorhouse.
“Special mention really for Jack Moorhouse,” Hughes explained. “Who has had a period of time where he’s been injured but we’re managing to increase his minutes week-by-week.
“Some of his play was really, really exciting, so we’re really pleased for him.”
Continuing, Hughes discussed how impressive the midfield trio of Gore, Fletcher and Moorhouse was.
“Tyler and Moorhouse similarly are really exciting with the ball, Dan offers so much off the ball and with the ball.”
Ruben Amorim understands Manchester United
During the game, there were a few very interesting spectators, including Ruben Amorim.
Amorim was seen watching United’s U21s alongside Jason Wilcox, Darren Fletcher and Nick Cox.
When asked if Amorim’s presence was a motivating factor for the U21 side, Hughes put it perfectly.
“[Ruben Amorim watching U21s] really enforces the importance of the academy and youth.
“Hopefully, he’s walked away from the game thinking about some of our boys thinking they are ready to be involved in a first-team training session.”
By watching the academy sides, it is clear Amorim understands how important this is to the club. So as performances improve and the team becomes more organised, we imagine Amorim will slowly begin to integrate youth.
