Manchester United have some extremely talented footballers at Carrington playing for the academy, but one stands out as the obvious next player to be promoted.
When Ruben Amorim was appointed at Old Trafford, there was excitement over his record of promoting academy players for Sporting Lisbon.
This was likely one major factor in his appointment, with Ineos investing heavily to create a strong academy full of players who have first-team potential.
Manchester United are yet to see Amorim hand out any debuts, but it wouldn’t have been fair to do so while the first-team was struggling. But the hope will be now with three wins on the bounce, we will start to see youngsters integrated.
Amorim hinted at this on Friday during his press conference on MUTV, stating that United must trust the academy.
“The focus is that we have to improve our Academy and you have to bring more. Because that is something all the clubs in England have to take advantage of – the players who came from the Academy.
“To play, to feel the shirt and also to sell. So, our focus is to bring more. The rest, I just want to prepare with both of them for the next game.”

Ruben Amorim is already aware of Jack Moorhouse
With Amorim’s comments on using the academy both for his squad and to raise funds in the case of those not deemed part of his plans, we would expect to soon see youngsters stepping up.
If so, Jack Moorhouse is the obvious one who is ready to make the leap.
Moorhouse was the standout in a U21 game that Amorim watched at Carrington. This performance led U21 coach Dave Hughes to laud Moorhouse as ‘really exciting’ and a ‘special’ talent.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder clearly caught the eye in this performance which Amorim, Jason Wilcox and Darren Fletcher all sat pitchside for.
In the following weeks, Amorim handed Moorhouse a chance to impress in first-team training, so he is already making waves. Now, he is ready to be given the chance to play senior football for United.
Moorhouse is ready to play for Manchester United
After spending over a year out injured, Moorhouse is making up for lost time at United and most recently he was completely dominant against Oldham.
Moorhouse’s athleticism stood out as he easily ran through the National League side and looked incredibly comfortable.
The United U21 star is potentially an elite ball carrier with his dribbling, mobility and ball control making him a devastating opponent for those who have to defend him.
Moorhouse has scored three and assisted two at the U21 level this season, despite only playing a limited amount of games due to his injury and being eased back in.
The midfielder is also a goal threat, often dribbling himself into dangerous areas, with his goal against Oldham impressive.
If Moorhouse can stay fit, a debut this season could be on the cards, as long as he continues to look levels above U21 football.
