Omar Berrada’s powerful stance on one of Michael Carrick’s standout Manchester United players shows Ineos are finally putting things right this summer.

The Ineos regime at Old Trafford has a massive transfer window ahead after Michael Carrick was appointed Manchester United manager near the end of last season.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s team has wasted no time ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and Atalanta midfielder Ederson is set to become Carrick’s first United summer signing.

All eyes are on Man Utd’s major midfield rebuild in the window, but Omar Berrada has hinted at another major bit of business that Ineos could wrap up this summer.

Omar Berrada’s feelings on Bruno Fernandes set the stage for the Man Utd contract talks with Ineos

Bruno Fernandes’ second half of the 2025-26 Premier League season was nothing short of remarkable under Manchester United legend Michael Carrick.

The 31-year-old Man Utd captain was deployed in an advanced position and the assists came rolling in for Bruno Fernandes across Carrick’s last 17 matches.

Fernandes clinched the Premier League assist record on the final day of the 2025-26 season after his impact in United’s 3-0 win over Brighton at the Amex last month.

United chief executive officer Omar Berrada showed Fernandes the respect that he deserves after the Portugal international’s stunning run of form last season.

“I think in Bruno, we have a fantastic captain. Absolutely fantastic,” he said on Man Utd’s Inside Carrington podcast, as per Sky Sports.

Berrada’s tone was also telling about the future of Fernandes at Old Trafford after he was asked if Ineos want the Red Devils skipper to remain at the club.

“We’d like him to stay,” he said.

“Of course, we do. He’s had a great season on the pitch and more importantly, I think he’s shown everybody that he is a great leader.

“People don’t see what he does outside the pitch and he deserves a lot of credit.”

Omar Berrada’s value on Bruno Fernandes’ importance should heal the wounds in the heart of the Man Utd captain

Bruno Fernandes came close to leaving Old Trafford last summer after Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal had tabled an eye-watering £100m bid for the United star.

However, Al Hilal’s approach for Fernandes was rejected by none other than the United skipper, who chose to remain at the Premier League club in 2025.

However, Fernandes’ rejection of Al Hilal and a move to Saudi Arabia did not come without the Portugal international expressing his true feelings on the saga.

The former Sporting CP midfielder claimed that he felt both ‘hurt’ and a sense of ‘sadness’ that United did not fight harder to keep him at Old Trafford.

“I decided not to go [to Saudi Arabia], not only for family reasons, but because I genuinely liked the club,” Fernandes said in 2025, as per Sky Sports.

“From the club, I felt, ‘If you go, it’s not that bad for us.’ It hurts me a bit.

“More than hurting, [it] makes me sad, I’m a player who has nothing to point to, I’m always available, I always give the best of me.”

Berrada has extended the all-important hand to Man Utd star Fernandes about putting behind his ‘hurt’ feelings and ensuring his long-term future is at Old Trafford.
