The season can’t end soon enough for Ruben Amorim and Manchester United who are now genuinely flirting with relegation after their latest loss.
Spurs did the treble over Man Utd in all competitions this season with their 1-0 win over Ruben Amorim’s sorry side licking their wounds after a damaging week in training.
A triple injury blow in midfield meant that the Man Utd manager was forced to go back to Casemiro, someone he publicly said was no longer up to it by Premier League standards.
That was true once again as Casemiro struggled immensely but look beyond the narrative and it’s another Man Utd star who’s becoming an actual worry for Amorim.

A tale of two Erik ten Hag signings at Man Utd
The signings made under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford looked questionable then, if only for their fee rather than talent but with time, they’ve turned from questionable to unforgivable.
Casemiro stands as the symptom of that problem as the high-earning, underperforming “megastar” who had already played the best football of his career elsewhere.
His struggles against Spurs, however, overshadowed another Ten Hag signing who continued his lowly form with another horrid game.
That signing is Andre Onana, the Cameroonian who effectively stands as the player Ten Hag staked his entire reputation on to bring a new style of play to the club.
He parried Lucas Bergvall’s shot straight into the path of James Maddison, continuing a trend of head-scratching, unforced errors in goal that a team struggling with confidence simply can’t overcome right now.
Andre Onana is as an unexpected problem for Ruben Amorim
When Amorim took over, it was with the knowledge that a full rebuild of the Man Utd squad was needed but the goalkeeper wasn’t one of the positions on the agenda.
That’s because Onana had finally come through his early jitters and emerged as one of the more reliable names on the teamsheet even when the team was conceding shots for fun under Ten Hag.
Fast forward three months under Amorim, and there’s a genuine case to be made that even Altay Bayindir should be given the chance to challenge Onana.
The shot-stopping was never regarded as one of his strengths and that is transpiring now but even his supposed strength, skill on the ball, has taken a hike.
At least Casemiro’s exit is a matter of when, and not if but Onana is the real problem and an unexpected one.
The already massive rebuild just got harder.
