Ruben Amorim can send another shock to his players with bold Man Utd lineup call vs Fulham

Ruben Amorim’s buzzword for his tenure at Manchester United has so far been “shock” for his player and he could deliver one of the biggest ones vs Fulham.

Be it through his lineup decisions, his comments after the games, or his dressing room outburst which Amorim later regretted, the Man Utd squad has been urged to shock themselves into action.

It has had mixed results so far but Amorim has continued to try and get the club out of the “too comfortable” stupor it has cocooned itself in.

With Fulham up next in the Premier League, he can send his next big shock to the players since dropping Marcus Rashford from the first-team proceedings.

Ruben Amorim’s bold call for Man Utd lineup vs Fulham

After more than two months at Old Trafford, Amorim’s first-choice XI has a fairly settled look to it and he hasn’t been shy about letting people know about it.

Some decisions have been loud and clear, like Rashford’s exclusion, while Casemiro has been axed quietly, replaced by Toby Collyer for now.

There are clear untouchables in the squad when fit in the form of Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Ugarte, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui, and Diogo Dalot.

However, one player who was thought to be an untouchable might be in for a shock when the Man Utd lineup vs Fulham drops.

Andre Onana has had a terrible time of things recently and unfortunately for him, that has coincided with Altay Bayindir finding his feet at the club.

Bayindir started the Europa League game vs Rangers despite Onana playing the first two European fixtures under Amorim which was a message in itself.

However, rotation for Europe was at least a believable reason for the change. If the change happens in the Premier League, Onana’s status as the undisputed No. 1 will be well and truly over.

It is a known fact that, unlike the outfielders, there is generally a clear hierarchy in the squad when it comes to the goalkeepers.

Consistency is valued over anything else which is why they are given a longer leash when they make mistakes or concede unforced goals.

For Onana to be dropped for Bayindir who, before this season, wasn’t even getting a proper look-in from Erik ten Hag for non-PL competitions would send shockwaves through the squad.

Amorim has maintained that every player can force their way into the team if they train well and play well but to extend that philosophy to goalkeepers would cement his meritocracy message.

That call has never felt closer than in this game vs Fulham.
