3-4-2-1 – Ruben Amorim’s dream Man Utd XI after transfer window with £100 million outlay on five signings

Manchester United’s January transfer window which looked like it was not going anywhere suddenly seems to have sprung into life.

Ayden Heaven’s Man Utd transfer is as good as done, and Patrick Dorgu is set to fill the left wing-back gaping hole in the squad.

That’s two signings, especially since Heaven is considered a first-team addition, and there is potential for more if United can manage to get some players out of the door.

An opportunity recently presented itself to Casemiro while Marcus Rashford is an open situation. Even Alejandro Garnacho is not fully out of the woods yet.

Here’s what Ruben Amorim’s dream Man Utd XI could look like come February 4, after the end of the transfer window with four new signings.

GK- Andre Onana

Not even in a dream XI is the first-choice goalkeeper getting replaced. The scenario might be different at the end of the summer window before next season but for now, he’s not going anywhere.

RCB – Noussair Mazraoui

Mazraoui has played in seven positions already at Man Utd but his best one that utilises his ball-playing strengths and progressive passing is the right-sided centre-back. A new fullback will allow it to happen.

CB – Matthijs de Ligt

Ruben Amorim has already admitted that in an ideal XI, both Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt won’t start because they need to start playing on the front foot more. Again, a new wing-back will make it happen.

LCB – Lisandro Martinez

Let’s be honest, Ayden Heaven might be a first-team signing but he’s not usurping Lisandro Martinez from the first XI.

RWB – Diogo Dalot

Diogo Dalot finally gets to start consistently on his stronger side as reinforcement arrives on the left. No more cutting inside and ending the momentum of the game.

LWB – Patrick Dorgu

Patrick Dorgu is no longer a dream, but a reality. Dorgu joins Man Utd and immediately becomes the first-choice left wing-back in a huge relief to Amorim. An initial £25 million well spent.

CM – Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte is Ruben Amorim’s favourite and an untouchable at Old Trafford. He’s not getting replaced.

Kobbie Mainoo – CM

His status is not as ironclad as Ugarte’s but his sky-high potential means Amorim will definitely invest in his growth in both, the short and long term.

Bruno Fernandes – AM

The captain and the beating heart of the team. He’s not going anywhere even in a dream XI.

Amad – AM

Arguably the most important player of this team. Untouchable alongside Ugarte and Fernandes.

Victor Osimhen – ST

Looking like the “Dream” XI finally? In this scenario, Osimhen’s loan in Turkey gets cut short and United selling Garnacho greases the wheels of this deal. A statement signing at a position sorely needed. A fee of around £50-60 million should get it done.

That’s the first XI then with two new signings and in this dream XI, United get two more to get strength in depth, taking the total number to five (including Ayden Heaven).

Nene Dorgeles arrives from RB Salzburg as another exciting youngster for a fee of around £10 million while United pounce on the opportunity to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on an initial loan with an option to make it permanent in the summer.

Of course, this outlay means that United also managed to offload Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Victor Lindelof, and even Christian Eriksen.

A man can dream!
