Man Utd could finally seal departure they desperately need, one domino needs to fall

Manchester United’s January transfer window is in a holding pattern until they seal some departures and one they desperately need might finally happen.

When it comes to departures Man Utd “desperately need”, Marcus Rashford and Casemiro spring to mind, two low-performing, high-earning players.

Combined, they earn north of half a million per week in wages, the sort of money that can kickstart a window through a freed wage bill alone, never mind the transfer fee.

Unfortunately, that’s a double-edged sword because those wages is why United can’t offload either. Until now for Casemiro.

Man Utd can seal Casemiro departure

United have quietly axed Casemiro from the first-team picture alongside Rashford and Toby Collyer’s emergence has accelerated that process.

Casemiro was linked to Al-Nassr at the beginning of the window but since then, Al-Nassr’s official communication denied those links.

That seems to have ended that trail and with that, the one plausible destination where finances could work for all parties involved.

It looked like United will have to bear the weight of his wages till his contract expiry but they’ve been given new encouragement that Casemiro’s departure is still possible.

Sky Italy report that AS Roma have “asked for information” on Casemiro in recent days as they are struggling with a squad-building challenge of their own.

Leandro Paredes could be about to join Ander Herrera at Boca Juniors, which leaves a spot open for a defensive midfielder that could be filled by Casemiro.

Serie A will be ideal for Casemiro

There have been numerous instances of players who looked on the decline being revitalised in Italy’s Serie A where the pace of the game is more methodical.

Even if it’s a six-month loan with United covering the majority of his wages, United should be open to letting the Brazilian leave for AS Roma.

That is because any wage covered by Roma will be a bonus since he’s been frozen out at Old Trafford. Most importantly, if he plays consistently and impresses in Italy, he could earn himself a marquee move in the summer.

As it stands, he’s being paid his full wages while playing zero minutes in recent games, not an ideal situation for anyone involved.

Hopefully Ander Herrera can take Leandro Paredes to Boca Juniors!
