Ruben Amorim’s latest stance on Alejandro Garnacho reflects poorly on Marcus Rashford

The bombs from Ruben Amorim on Marcus Rashford have become a common occurrence after every press conference and they stand in stark contrast to Alejandro Garnacho.

It was barely more than a month ago that Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford found themselves in the same boat- dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby.

Since then, the career trajectories couldn’t possibly have been more different, with Garnacho forcing himself back into Amorim’s plans and Rashford, well, not so much.

Rashford asked for a new challenge and since then, Amorim has been brutally honest about him publicly.

United in Focus recently spoke to transfer insider Graeme Bailey and Amorim’s stance on Garnacho reflects even more poorly on Rashford, if that was possible at all!

Ruben Amorim’s stance on Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho made his return to the fold in the very next game after the Manchester derby and since then, has become somewhat of a regular starter.

Questions continue to swirl over Garnacho’s future but the player himself hasn’t fanned the flames of a move and is actually playing his best football under the Man Utd manager.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey gave the lowdown on the latest between Garnacho and Amorim and if there’s been a thawing of sorts recently.

Bailey said: “From what I understand Amorim has never doubted Garnacho’s talent and willingness to adapt, and he has never called for him to leave and has not asked the hierarchy to move him.

“Garnacho and Amorim realise that his fitting into the system is tough, and there has been an acceptance of that for a while. But his staying has never been ruled out.

“However, should Garnacho want to battle for his place in the team, that is not an issue to Amorim or United.

“At no point has Amorim demanded he [Garnacho] is sold…although Amorim would argue he hasn’t done that with Rashford either.”

Which brings us nicely to how this whole situation reflects badly on Rashford.

A tale of two forwards

While Garnacho has put his head down and looks determined to turn his fate around despite having concretely interested parties, Rashford has disappeared without any concrete links to other clubs!

The noise around Rashford isn’t matching the reality of the situation, as Bailey puts forward all the available options right now.

Bailey said: “Barcelona have made it clear to him, even if they get Fati or another out and make room, he is not going to be the first choice.

“West Ham have left their offer on the table which United would be open to, but Rashford is not desperate for anything.

“United are prepared for him to stay unless he changes his mind and really pushes for something, and at this point, he isn’t. As we can see Amorim is getting really annoyed with the whole situation.”

It seems like Rashford is happy to sit and collect his wages while not playing, hardly helping his image in front of the Man Utd fans at this moment.

It is a tale of two forwards at Old Trafford but the fans would be forgiven for thinking that the boyhood academy product would be the one doing his all to turn his future around.

Instead, it’s Garnacho who’s been nothing but professional throughout.
