25 goal contributions in 26 games, Man Utd target would be the signing of the summer for Ineos

Manchester United are in the market for a new number nine this summer, with one name emerging as the best option of the lot.

The desire to sign a new start striker has grown week on week for Ruben Amorim as he has consistently endured the terrible performances from Rasmus Hojlund in particular.

Manchester United’s current No.9 has failed to score in his last 16 games, with only two Premier League goals in 21 games this season so far, however, concerns go far beyond his goal scoring.

Not only are the goals proving hard to find for Hojlund, but he is also looking increasingly poor on and off the ball, which often means he isn’t involved at all in the game through positioning or his touch for example.

Hojlund had just 23 touches against Everton in the 70 minutes he played – with which he achieved virtually nothing meaning Chido Obi is on the verge of being United’s first-choice striker, looking encouraging in limited minutes.

Due to this… Ineos are aiming to sign a new striker for United this summer.

Victor Osimhen having an immense season for Galatasaray

United seem to have a number of options to replace Hojlund as the No.9 this summer, with Liam Delap from Ipswich being considered by United.

Another more likely, option is that Viktor Gyokeres will be reunited with Amorim. The two worked together at Sporting with Gyokeres scoring 63 goals in 66 games under Amorim.

However, another option which continues being linked is Victor Osimhen of Napoli – on loan with Galatasaray – as the Nigerian boasts the goal-scoring acumen that this current United side are so desperately lacking.

This season, Osimhen has 25 goal contributions in 26 games, scoring 20 and assisting five – a record which simply puts Hojlund’s to shame.

Osimhen brings qualities which Amorim desperately needs in order to make his system work and the skills that the he brings might transform Old Trafford.

Victor Osimhen brings Manchester United much-needed qualities

Osimhen is said to be keen to join United, even in the current 15th-place situation in which the club finds itself in.

This speaks volumes about his thoughts on United, which has always been the case since Odion Ighalo advised Osimhen to join United years ago.

From Osimhen’s stats, it is clear that he is not only lethal in the box, but it also creates chances for himself and teammates.

Osimhen’s movement is the real major upgrade on Hojlund, with the Galatasaray forward capable of anticipating crosses and passes in a way the Dane simply cannot – often leaving him flat-footed.

This could be the signing of the summer for his reported £62m release clause – and better yet, Hojlund could be used as a makeweight.

Ineos must find a way to make this deal happen…
