Manchester United’s quest to find a solution to the striker predicament is expected to dominate the summer transfer window.

There are a lot of problems for Manchester United to solve at Old Trafford over the next six months to get this team ready for the 2025/26 season.

Upgrades in Ruben Amorim’s midfield are needed while defensive reinforcements are also likely on the list for Ineos including another wing-back in the ilk of Geovany Quenda.

So it is expected to be a blockbuster summer transfer window for United, with plenty of business to do – but there is no position more in need of an upgrade than the striker position.

United have only scored 28 goals this season with it quite evident that Rasmus Hojlund isn’t good enough – while Amorim admits Joshua Zirkzee is not a striker but rather a No.10.

A true world-class number nine is needed and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen would fit the bill.

Victor Osimhen still keen to join Manchester United without European football

With a striker desperately needed, United in Focus understands there are a handful of options including Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres is a pretty obvious choice, considering his history with Amorim and would likely guarantee goals. But Osimhen would also guarantee goals, with United receiving encouragement in the bid to sign the Nigerian.

Now, United in Focus understands after speaking with Graeme Bailey that the interest in Osimhen is serious, with the forward who is on loan at Galatasaray ticking plenty of Ineos’ boxes.

It is understood that United’s struggles and unlikely participation in the Champions League next season – or European competitions in general – will not impact on the 26-year-old’s decision-making when it comes to a move.

Osimhen will believe that no Champions League is a temporary thing and he can be the man to fire the club back to where it belongs. United in Focus also understands that Osimhen is keen to join United, knowing how huge it would be for African football if he were to be United’s main man, considering the club’s popularity in the African continent.

This comes after TBR reported that United scouts had been watching Osimhen on Monday night as he bagged a brace, which surely wowed the scouts in attendance.

How much would Victor Osimhen cost Manchester United?

In Napoli, United will find willing negotiators who are keen to see Osimhen depart their ranks this summer after a successful 19-goal – so far – campaign in Turkey.

Osimhen is thought to have a release clause this summer to the value of £62.2m, as Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday.

This may sound like a lot, but United in Focus understands that Napoli wouldn’t necessarily hold out for the release fee, as is their desire to sell.

Napoli are thought to hold an interest in Marcus Rashford, along with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee which suggests there could be an arrangement made which could see Osimhen cost a minuscule fee.

Osimhen would bring the goals and with his physicality, he’d be a huge upgrade on the two strikers Amorim currently has to work with.
