What Man United coaches have noticed about Tyler Fredricson, one word sums him up brilliantly

Tyler Fredricson repaid Ruben Amorim’s faith in him with a brilliant performance for Manchester United against Wolves.

After beating Lyon in the Europa League, Ruben Amorim said academy stars will get their chance in the remaining Premier League matches.

Manchester United’s head coach already has one eye on next season given that there is nothing left to play for domestically.

Amorim kept to his word and handed Tyler Fredricson his senior debut against Wolves at Old Trafford. He also handed a start to Harry Amass, who was United’s best player on the day.

Both academy defenders were superb and not at all to blame for Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Wolves. They can expect more minutes before the season comes to an end.

Man United coaches wowed by Tyler Fredricson

It has always seemed a matter of time until Fredricson had his first-team breakthrough, especially after he played a vital role in winning the 2022 FA Youth Cup.

Fredricson has captained United’s youth teams this season, and at 20 years old he finally got the nod from Amorim. It’s fair to say he took his opportunity with both hands.

When discussing his team selection, Amorim called Fredricson “humble” and “composed”.

According to the Daily Mail, coaches at Carrington have been extremely impressed by Fredricson. Not just his footballing ability, but also his attitude.

The report claims that “humility” is the go-to word that coaches use to describe Fredricson. He is also described as “a willing learner and a player with a high footballing IQ”.

That was certainly on show on Sunday afternoon as he put in a near-flawless display in defence.

Tyler Fredricson topped all Man United teammates in one area

After the full-time whistle, Amorim praised Fredricson’s display at Old Trafford, saying: “I think he did really well.”

Amorim added: “We need to score goals so that the kids have better memories from their first games.”

He’s right. Fredricson’s performance deserved a clean sheet and three points on his debut, but United’s misfiring forwards were unable to take advantage of the control that they had over Wolves.

Incredibly, no United player won more duels than Fredricson’s 12 across his 90-minute display. Only Harry Amass recovered more balls than him.

Amorim raved about Fredricson’s ability on the ball before kick-off, and it took the academy no time at all to settle into the match and show his talent – he completed more passes than any of his teammates in the first half.
