Manchester United are already closing in on a new manager and Ruben Amorim is seemingly forming plans for his coaching staff at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag was sacked by Manchester United on Monday, paying the price for a disappointing start to the season.
United sit 14th in the Premier League table and are without a win in the first three Europa League games of the campaign.
That just wasn’t sustainable and, whilst Ineos backed Ten Hag over the summer, the performances and results just weren’t good enough.
United have already found a top target to replace Ten Hag though with Sporting’s Ruben Amorim the main man in the frame.
Sporting have confirmed United’s move for Amorim but he was still in charge of the Portuguese side against Nacional on Tuesday night.

Sporting coach set to follow Ruben Amorim
The deal for Amorim is not yet done but United will hope to have him in place very soon.
Amorim, 39, has already won two league titles with Sporting and cemented himself as one of the top young coaches in Europe.
United now seem convinced by Amorim and are set to back him with some key coaching additions.
Daniel Fernandes and Adelio Candido are set to join United alongside Amorim and a third Sporting coach looks poised to arrive.
Mais Futebol (18:57) claim that Sporting goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital is expected to follow Amorim to United.
Just like Fernandes and Candido, Vital worked with Amorim at Braga and Sporting.
A goalkeeper in his playing days, Vital was on the books of clubs such as Portimonense, Sporting and Gil Vicente.
Now 63, Vital has only coached with two different clubs – Braga and Sporting.
Vital has moved between the two clubs over the years but now looks set for a first job outside of Portugal with Amorim ready to take him to United.
Amorim points tallies and league finishes in full seasons at Sporting
Amorim has won two league titles in four full seasons at Sporting and only dipped below 85 points on one occasion.
Here is Amorim’s record in full seasons at Sporting ahead of his expected move to United…
| Points | League position | |
| 2020-21 | 85 | 1st |
| 2021-22 | 85 | 2nd |
| 2022-23 | 74 | 4th |
| 2023-24 | 90 | 1st |
Jorge Vital arrival raises questions about Jelle ten Rouwelaar
United are seemingly allowing Amorim to bring in Vital, but that will raise questions about Jelle ten Rouwelaar.
The Dutch goalkeeping coach arrived at United back in July, replacing Richard Hartis as the goalkeeping coach under Ten Hag.
Ten Rouwelaar had worked under Vincent Kompany at Burnley and ditched Ajax in order to join United.
Ten Hag was ‘convinced’ by Ten Rouwelaar’s qualities whilst Tom Heaton praised Ten Rouwelaar’s training sessions.
Yet just three months into his United career, Ten Rouwelaar will seemingly watch another goalkeeping coach arrive.
Amorim will have to decide whether to axe Ten Rouwelaar or allow him to work alongside Vital, with the Sporting coach now expected to arrive one way or another.
