Peter Schmeichel has now dropped a clear-cut assessment of Ineos’ reign at Old Trafford since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became the co-owner of Manchester United.

Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe suffered another major setback for their long-term plans at the Premier League club after Manchester United finally sacked Ruben Amorim.

Are you happy with Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe?

Ruben Amorim’s 14-month United reign ended after the 40-year-old Portuguese coach took aim at the Red Devils’ behind-the-scenes hierarchy last weekend.

The ex-United manager oversaw the Red Devils’ 1-1 Premier League draw against Leeds United before dropping his explosive post-match press conference remarks.

Amorim’s departure from United left the Ineos regime with the key call to put Darren Fletcher into the temporary role of Red Devils caretaker manager at the club.

Peter Schmeichel calls out Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos over one key part of their reign at Old Trafford

Manchester United are now linked with several interim managerial candidates, including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Red Devils are expected to install a caretaker manager for the remainder of the 2025-26 Premier League season after Ruben Amorim’s exit from Old Trafford.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily, Peter Schmeichel insisted that Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have shown their true colours with their handling of managers.

The 62-year-old United legend believes that the chopping and changing of managers under Ineos has been a ‘disappointment’ since Ratcliffe’s involvement at the club.

“And for me, there’s been too many experiments,” Schmeichel said.

“And I think it’s time now that we get the ‘right person’ in and we can look ahead for more than 18 months. This time it was 14 months.

“And that, for me, I have to say that, for me, is the most disappointing thing that we, you know, we’ve had [with] Ineos running the club for two years.

“And it’s our second manager signing. That’s not good enough for Manchester United.”

The 1958 have launched a blistering attack on the way Sir Jim Ratcliffe is running Man Utd

What is your view? Have your say and don't hold back!

“After lurching from one disaster to another, Ratcliffe comes across as an incompetent clown turning the club into a circus. Instead of best in class we’re a laughing stock.”

Peter Schmeichel spotted the glaring issue with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos’ Man Utd approach

Erik ten Hag was the first on the chopping block for Ratcliffe and Ineos when it came to United managers, with the Dutchman axed in the 2024-25 season.

Ineos had even awarded Erik ten Hag a new United contract in the 2024 summer after their end-of-season review failed to yield a managerial replacement.

Fast-forward from Ten Hag’s United sacking and Amorim has met the same fate as his predecessor, which has raised questions over Ineos’ approach at Old Trafford.

United are now looking incredibly vulnerable amid searching for a short-term interim manager and a permanent long-term successor to ex-Sporting CP boss Amorim.

Schmeichel couldn’t be more right with the ‘disappointment’ about Ineos’ reign, with Amorim’s dismissal from United adding another setback for the Premier League club.
