Cristiano Ronaldo further etched his name into football’s pantheon of all time greats this week.
Ronaldo scored his 110th and 111th Portugal goals to move clear as the record international goalscorer of all time.
The Manchester United star’s achievements have drawn huge acclaim, with Rivaldo and Marcus Rashford among those to congratulate him.
Former United teammate Patrice Evra wrote: “Congrats bro @cristiano and it’s just the starter!! can’t wait for the main course @manchesterunited.”

Pele sends his wishes
For the second time in a week, Ronaldo received a congratulatory message from Brazil legend Pele.
Pele wrote: “Cristiano, congratulations on breaking another record. You inspire us all with your ability to overcome any challenge.”
During his playing career, Pele scored 77 goals for Brazil. Although he did win the World Cup twice, the only major honour missing from Ronaldo’s illustrious career.
Earlier this week, Pele reached out to Ronaldo after his transfer move back to Manchester United was confirmed.
He wrote: “There’s no better feeling than conquering the world and coming home. Always be happy, Cristiano.”
Ronaldo later responded: “It’s always great to come back to a home where we’ve already been happy… Thank you very much for your support, Pele.”

Ronaldo suspension
Ronaldo has now left Portugal’s international squad after he picked up a booking and suspension against Ireland.
He was shown a yellow card after taking his shirt off as he celebrated scoring Portugal’s winner.
Ronaldo is permitted to leave Portugal’s squad and miss the friendly with Qatar and World Cup qualifier with Azerbaijan, BBC report.
He is now expected to make his way to Manchester well in time to be cleared to feature in United’s next Premier League game at home to Newcastle.
