Paul Pogba was Manchester United’s matchwinner at the San Siro on a memorable night for the team.

This was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United proving to themselves they can win a big game against a big opponent, when it mattered.

There are still three rounds of the Europa League to go, but United are among the favourites now after beating one of the more accomplished sides in the competition.

Pogba may have been overshadowed at times by Bruno Fernandes since the Portuguese star’s arrival, but last night was his moment.

The Frenchman alluded to that a little in his Instagram comment, noting it was his ‘turn’ to score. Fernandes has netted 23 goals this season, and this was Pogba’s sixth.

Pogba also posted messages showing he knew the result was not all about him, but it was a collective effort from front to back.

He also celebrated United’s qualification to the quarter-finals. The draw will take place later today, with the semi-finals also mapped out.

Pogba’s teammate Fred also sent a message titled’ Pogbooom’ after the Frenchman’s winner.

Fred’s message drew a response from substitute goalkeeper for the night David de Gea, who wrote ‘What a player!’.

It was ambiguous as to whether De Gea was talking about Pogba, or sending Fred a well meaning compliment after his efforts.

Both players were involved in United’s winning goal, with Pogba providing the finishing touch.

Fred is still looking for his first goal of the season and has just three in 108 games.
