Manchester United pair Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro have now picked the same teammate they think will explode in 2026/27.
It might be a month before pre-season even begins for Manchester United, but already eyes are turning toward the 2026/27 campaign.
After United’s successful 2025/26 season, expectations and hopes are high for next year, with several players predicted to take the next step.
Matheus Cunha has been tipped to kick on, but now Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro have pitched their ‘one to watch’ and they’re in complete agreement.
Which youngster are you MOST excited to watch during pre-season?
With the World Cup this summer, pre-season will have plenty of academy involvement🔮
Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro are excited by Patrick Dorgu
Mainoo and Yoro are potentially ones to watch in their own right, with both expected to improve from their 2025/26 contributions.
But ViaPlay has now quizzed the two youngsters on who United’s one to watch is for next season, with one clear answer from both.
Mainoo answered first, hailing Patrick Dorgu.
“I’d say Patrick [Dorgu]. I’d say he can go up another level again. In training, some of the stuff he’s doing, you can see him really pushing.”
Yoro then had the same player in mind.
“Patrick Dorgu [one to watch next season]. Sometimes he plays as a winger as well. In this position, he is really dangerous for the opponent.”
Who is YOUR ‘one to watch’ pick for Man Utd next season?👀
Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro both say Patrick Dorgu, but who is yours?
Dorgu could end up getting world-class shouts for Manchester United next season
Mainoo and Yoro have made the perfect selection here, with Dorgu potentially primed to reach incredible heights next season if his form under Michael Carrick so far is anything to go on.
Due to injury, Dorgu has only played six games under Carrick, and all have come on the left wing, amounting to 283 minutes of playing time.
Incredibly, in these minutes, he has scored three goals and assisted one. This means Dorgu is currently averaging a goal or assist every 70 minutes, which is a record that cannot be sniffed at.
If he can manage even close to this over the course of a full season, United would be looking at a player in the top percentile in the Premier League and a winger who will be getting the world-class label thrown at him.
Obviously, it is a small sample size, and he hasn’t proved consistency yet. But Dorgu’s form continued after his long injury hiatus, which suggests that it might actually be sustainable. He has also carried it through into his performances for Denmark.
Definitely one to watch.
