Kobbie Mainoo was the biggest winner for Manchester United after the sacking and departure of Ruben Amorim in January.
Under Ruben Amorim, Kobbie Mainoo had inexplicably been designated to be a bench player for Manchester United, despite the fanbase knowing it was wrong.
Amorim reduced Mainoo to pity minutes, insulting to one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a homegrown United legend in the making.
Luckily, United axed Amorim before he was able to push Mainoo out of the club. Since then, Mainoo has signed a new deal and reaffirmed himself as one of the best players at the club, being built around in midfield.
Now he might have a chance to prove Amorim so wrong.

Ruben Amorim is in line for the AC Milan job
Mainoo returned to his best immediately after Amorim left United, making it baffling why he hadn’t been playing the entire time.
But every week that has gone by, Mainoo has been vindicated, and Amorim has looked like a complete fool, but now the Portuguese ace is lined up for a new job.
According to The Athletic, Amorim is now the leading candidate to become AC Milan’s new head coach.
Amorim has been in talks with Milan over the past week about taking charge of the giant Serie A side. Initially, Milan wanted Andoni Iraola before he was snapped up by Liverpool, and Amorim has now taken his place as frontrunner.
Other options for Milan include Mauricio Pochettino, Oliver Glasner, Matthias Jaissle, and Sebastian Hoeness.
Interestingly, if appointed, Amorim may work with Ralf Rangnick and maybe even Christopher Vivell, with both being considered for roles in Milan’s footballing structure.

Kobbie Mainoo and Manchester United could have Amorim reunion
The way that Amorim and United parted ways, a reunion didn’t feel likely. But with the pre-season schedule for United this summer, there might be one already in the diary.
United take on Milan this summer in Wroclaw, Poland, to conclude pre-season on August 15th. It would have been a pretty harmless affair, but Amorim’s appointment will add untold importance to the friendly fixture.
Mainoo will be desperate to prove Amorim wrong before his very eyes, with journalists sure to ask him about his former midfielder’s performance.
While Michael Carrick will also be feeling very keen to get one over his predecessor, defeat would inevitably lead to a portion of the fanbase questioning whether Amorim should have been kept.
It would certainly add some spice to the final pre-season fixture.
