Patrick Dorgu’s squad number at Man United confirmed ahead of potential Old Trafford unveiling

New Manchester United signing Patrick Dorgu has been handed his squad number following his £25m move from Lecce.

According to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, Patrick Dorgu could be unveiled at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon just moments before the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

Manchester United agreed a £24.7m deal for Dorgu with Lecce, with add-ons potentially taking the fee up to around £31m.

Dorgu’s contract at United is valid until 2030 with an option to extend for a year and he is set to earn £38,500 per week in wages.

He joins a growing list of young talents signed by Ineos and technical director Jason Wilcox is excited by Dorgu’s arrival, believing he can become a key player under Ruben Amorim. His squad number certainly suggests he’ll be a starter.

Before his move was completed, United in Focus predicted that Dorgu would wear the No.13 shirt at United.

The 20-year-old wore the No.13 shirt at Lecce having first worn it during his time at FC Nordsjaelland’s reserves.

United have now confirmed that Dorgu will be our new No.13.

It was the lowest number still available in United’s squad, with the next being Marcus Rashford’s former No.19 shirt.

Dorgu will follow in the footsteps of club legend Ji-Sung Park by inheriting the No.13 shirt.

When will Patrick Dorgu make his Man United debut?

While Dorgu will be in attendance at Old Trafford on Sunday, the Palace clash has come far too early for him to feature.

Instead, it seems that Dorgu’s first chance at making his United debut will come on Friday evening.

The Red Devils will be re-united with former striker and coach Ruud van Nistelrooy when they face Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

A home cup match would be an ideal time for Dorgu to make his United debut. If he impresses, he could feature for United away to Tottenham the following Sunday.
