Patrick Dorgu is close to becoming Ruben Amorim’s first major signing as Manchester United head coach.
After several rounds of meetings, Manchester United have agreed a fee for Patrick Dorgu with Italian side Lecce.
The Red Devils are set to pay £24m plus add-ons to sign the 20-year-old wing-back, who is expected to arrive in Manchester on Thursday to undergo his medical.
Reports from Italy suggest Dorgu will earn £38,500-a-week at United, making him one of the lowest earners at the club behind the likes of Tom Heaton.
Dorgu is expected to wear the No.13 shirt at United, and there is a strong chance the Denmark international will immediately become a regular under Amorim given that the Portuguese head coach has been demanding a new left wing-back.

What Man United fans can expect from Patrick Dorgu
United scouts are excited by Dorgu as he appears to be a great fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system. So far this season, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have been the first-choice wing-backs but neither player would consider it their strongest position.
That is certainly not the case with Dorgu, who has played his best football at wing-back for Lecce. The 20-year-old is, however, versatile and can play on either side and also as a winger if needed.
Dorgu has been described as a “machine” due to his physicality and athleticism, and his former manager has now offered even more insight into what he is like as a player.
Via Danish outlet Tispbladet, Jens Fonsskov Olsen – who managed Dorgu in Denmark’s Under-19s squad – raved about his ability.
“Patrick left North Zealand and went to a slightly smaller place in Italy and took the chance there, where he has been really well-educated, especially in the defensive part of the game.
“I was really happy with him. I think he had some exciting skills. I had him on the national team, and he stuck with it pretty quickly. Patrick is fast, he is forward-thinking, he can head both offensively and defensively, and he has a very, very good left foot.
“He is a creative player who can also play on the pitch and solve some things. I am incredibly happy that I brought him in and just believed in him in that situation, and I am really happy for him, in terms of how his career has developed.”
When could Patrick Dorgu make his Man United debut?
Dorgu appears to be exactly what United have been crying out for during the first half of the season, and it likely won’t be long until he makes his debut for the Red Devils.
With a medical scheduled for Thursday, Dorgu’s move will not be completed in time for United’s Europa League clash against FCSB tomorrow evening.
Amorim’s side are away in Romania for the clash, whereas Dorgu will be finalising his move in Manchester.

Provided the deal goes smoothly and Dorgu officially joins towards the end of the week, there is an outside chance he could feature against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

If the Palace game also comes too soon for Dorgu, then the FA Cup fourth-round clash against Leicester City on Friday, 7th February could be a perfect opportunity to make his debut.
