Patrick Dorgu says he’s actually become really good friends with Manchester United U21 star

Patrick Dorgu arrived at Manchester United in January and has settled into his new surroundings quickly, forming new friendships at Carrington and beyond.

Shortly after Ruben Amorim became Manchester United’s head coach, Ineos stepped up their search for a left wing-back to help solve one of the many issues in the team.

That led to Patrick Dorgu being signed from Lecce last January, as a young talent with the ability to go straight into United’s line-up.

As was to be expected, given his age and limited experience at the highest level, Dorgu is taking time to adapt to the Premier League. There is hope his performances will become more consistent over time.

United also signed Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno to provide more competition for Dorgu.

However, Leon is miles from being first-team ready, so Dorgu has a chance to get a run of games under his belt.

Dorgu will be hoping to add more goal contributions to his game this season.

Patrick Dorgu talks about Chido Obi friendship

Dorgu has had enough time to get to know most of his United teammates.

When he initially arrived, United’s first team contained two more Denmark internationals, but Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund have since moved on.

The only other Dane on the fringes of the first team is academy star Chido Obi, who has been starring for United’s under-21s this season.

In an interview with Viaplay Sport, Dorgu was asked if he had made friends since moving to England. He said: “Yes, I became friends with [William] Osula, Chido, and Tochi [Chukwuani].”

This shows that Dorgu has stuck to his Danish network since moving from Italy to Manchester. He is one of the younger players in the dressing room and we are sure he will make more friends over the coming years.

When is Chido Obi in action next?

United’s under-21s take on Crystal Palace today at 2 pm.

After resting when the U21s took on Athletic Club on Wednesday night, Obi is expected to start against Palace.

The last time Obi played was against Liverpool last weekend, when he scored the equalising goal in a 2-1 win.

Obi has not been selected for the senior matchday squad since the end of last season.

It remains to be seen if the 17-year-old will be handed any senior experience this term.
